“I must leave soon. I can no longer stay here, but I want you to come with me.” He narrowed his eyes over at me again. “All you have to do is let go of this world. It doesn’t own you; you don’t belong here. I promise I will make all the confusion disappear.” I felt the butterflies spinning in my stomach. “Then you’ll understand who you really are,” he said. His eyes were smiling back. “You’ll never be lonely again.” There was a knock at the door. Startled, I spun around. Michael called from the other side of the door. When I looked back Quentin was gone. I rushed to the window, but I couldn’t find him. “Come to me, my pet,” the wind whispered. “Come to me. I’ll be waiting, just called out to me and I’ll be there.” Michael was knocking hard, drowning out the sounds of Quentin’s pleas.
