“I know, I know,” Joseph uttered. “The only thing I can suggest is that she not go to this dinner,” I said. “But he’ll be expecting her there,” he reasoned, “if she doesn’t come, he might become even more suspicious of something.” He looked pained as he rubbed at his neck. His pacing began again. “It’s a risk we’ll have to take, John. I’d rather have her not attend; you know Dr. Nicholson is a human lie detector.” He stopped pacing. “We can say she’s sick or something.” He suggested. “You think he’ll buy that?” Of course, he wouldn’t, but what choice did he have?
