Seven in the morning, in Olivia’s apartment, a hot steam of vanilla spreads across the tiny kitchen and in the living room since there is no boundary between the places.
The bedroom door opens, and Heath walks out. The aroma reaches the spot where he stands. It tickles his nose and his growling stomach, therefore he must find out where the scent comes from. He steps one by one towards the kitchen and stretches his arms out. There Olivia puts a stack of pancakes with a vanilla glaze on the top and a bit of whip cream through separate plates. After she was done, she notices Heath approaches the table, and she invites her for a breakfast.
“This looks good!”, he sits on the chair next to his girlfriend.
“Oh, I almost forgot!”, Olivia stands up from her chair and picked up two cups of hot chocolate, “There you go”, she said. Heath looks into her eyes and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead, “Thank you, honey”, he said. Afterwards, the two of them, start eating.
Olivia asks his boyfriend Heath about his work and the task he’s doing. She always tries understanding his job, and the things he was interested in because she wanted to show there’s someone by his side always willing to listen, on his endless stories. Besides, through their conversations, Heath releases all the building-up emotions he endured from his job. Chatters about his day, remove thorns in his chest. Venting emotions out can uplift a person, thus sometimes Olivia wishes she could also release her emotions about her job to his boyfriend. Such as the times she visits Martin May in his office or mansion. When she plans on visiting him, he’s not always in the place. But if Olivia tells information, this can bring danger to both of them. After Heath moves in with Olivia a couple of weeks ago, their entire breakfast conversation revolves around his work or their plans for the week.
The moment the two clear their plate and drink up all the hot chocolate, Heath washes the dishes. The couple divided their task around the house, and avoid exhaustion. When Heath is still in the kitchen, Olivia takes a bath. It will take her more than half an hour before they can finish, thus Heath has time for himself enough to play a quick video game or scroll on his phone. During that day, he checks his social media accounts.
When Olivia goes out of the bathroom, Heath follows in and takes a shower for about five or ten minutes. Olivia on the other hand dresses in her uniform and begins doing a little makeup on her face. She puts a few touches of foundation, colors her eyebrows light black, and puts a lip tint. Since Olivia has her own natural beauty of some perfect features on her face, she doesn’t need much application of make-up.
After her makeup, and hair was done, Heath shouts all of a sudden. “Honey, do I have a clean shirt?”. Olivia looks at herself in the mirror one more time, before she shouts back “It’s in here!”. In a few seconds, Heath enters their bedroom, with towels in his waistline and another towel covering his shoulders.
Olivia looks at her wristwatch, “It’s already Eight, come quick, am just gonna get my bag outside, I think I left it there”, she goes to the living room, and Heath puts his clothes alone inside.
Olivia opens her bag and searches her stuff one by one, “Phone, key, wallet”, she uttered after she made sure the items were placed in her bag. All of the things she needs sit in her bag beside one item. “My ID?”, she asked herself. Olivia repeats searching inside every mini purse in her bag but still couldn’t find her ID.
“Honey! Have you seen my ID?”, she shouts from the living room, but her boyfriend Heath replied with a no. Questions and the prospect of never finding her ID begin to run in her mind. “Drat! Where did I place it?”, Olivia turns on every pillow on the couch. She then looks into each drawer’s cabinets, and pouches until Heath finishes dressing and be ready. “You still can’t find it?”, Heath asks her.
“Ughh!”, Olivia grunted, “I’ve looked everywhere, but I still couldn’t find it”, she added.
“Have you searched in the car?”,
“No, can you help me look for it”, Olivia requested, and her boyfriend Heath followed.
After another fifteen minutes of searching the couple still can’t find Olivia’s ID, and the time would not cooperate with them. Heath must be at the office when nine strikes, and after minutes wasted, he suggested that Olivia perhaps misplaced her ID at work. The two went into the car, and Olivia drives his boyfriend towards work first before going to the station.
When Olivia reaches the police station, she walks towards her office right away and begins searching, and if she still can’t find it, she must file a report for it. She scans every drawer and folder where she might have slipped it in and even at the trash can, but her hopes were in vain.
Olivia then decided to call for help, and the first person who came into her mind is her friend Emmy. Olivia walks on the corridors of the station and goes towards her friend’s office, and when she is just a few steps away from it, her phone suddenly rings.
The name of Glen Hopkins shows up on her screen. “Uggh! This man again, what does he want?”, Olivia whispered. Her thumb lies next to the button, yet she didn’t click it. Olivia has an urgent thing to do, but like last time he answered his call before he create more trouble soon, and which must be avoided. Olivia pauses for a second, and stares at his name on the screen “Fine!”, she answers the call.
“Hello”, she uttered on the phone
“Good morning, Ms. Clark”, Glen greeted in a cheerful voice.
Olivia then asks her what she can do for him and Glen answered, “I have something to return”. Upon his statement, Olivia fell into confusion. “He has an item, originally mine, what could it be?”, Olivia questions herself.
“What is it?”, Olivia asked Glen
“You’ll know when you meet me in the coffee shop near you”, he said which made Olivia surprised. He prepared himself for this, it might be important.
“Don’t play games with me, sir, because if you do, you are also playing with the law”, she said
Glen laughs a little, he mocks her for being too serious, but still assures her, he intends no harm.
“All right, why don’t you deliver it to me instead?”, she said, yet Glen insisted.
Olivia was fed up, with him. She has files which must be attended to right away, and instead of doing it, she needs to waste time with him, which leaves her no choice but agree on his request. The two decide to meet at the coffee shop at lunchtime and then say goodbye to each other.
Olivia puts her phone in her pocket and walks back to her office. All of a sudden her mind
takes her consciousness from the events around her. She recalls the event last night, and what items she took with her. Olivia walked and walked until the moment she’s inside her office, she forgot on asking her friend Emmy and why she’s there in the first place. Olivia sets the thought aside and focuses her full attention on more important things. She takes the first folder on her desk, and a pen then starts to read.
First, she needs to encode and scan the information she last got from tracking the men in the sketches, after the description of the testimony of the janitor at the crime scene. According to the CCTV, reports and statements, the two guards were last found in the city a week after the murder. The two fake security guards rented a penthouse during their stay, and now Olivia intends on conducting a rigorous search in the place, making the penthouse unavailable for any renters at the moment.
Olivia picks up the next folder and writes her plans and observations down on a piece of bond paper. It was George who gave her the file which contains the statement of Sotto’s wife. In a couple of weeks, this is the only update her boss George informed her. Lt. Jarvis ordered her to use it because it might help her, tie the statements in the questionings and interrogations. She now believes her boss uses her to gather data alone, but Olivia desires solving the case with him, therefore she didn’t inform George yet about her other investigations such as the search of the unknown security guards.
Olivia records, chunks of information she needed on a separate paper and creates a plan for a week of investigation afterward. All of a sudden, in the middle of her task, she recall what she has to do at her friend’s office.” I almost forgot about my ID” she uttered, then a strike of realization hits her head. “Could it be in Mr. Hopkin’s possession”, Olivia looks back on the events last night.
When the drunk men and Glen find themselves unable to walk due to the power of intoxication, she aids the handcuffed Glen towards the car. Her ID was intact in her pouch at the belt, and he was drunk, besides what is his motive about it? Olivia leans her back on the couch and looked at the mini clock on her desk. The time strikes at ten in the morning, she must endure two hours of confusion and longing for an answer. Olivia ignored it for the meantime so the questions won't hinder her from her full attention at the paper on her desk.
An hour passes, and Olivia’s legs begin to be in a bit of needling pain. She stands up then takes a walk then went to her friend Emmy’s office then says hello. The two ended up chatting for half an hour, about the current events in their lives, and work. Olivia also mention to her friend, the events last night with Glen and her ID. It relieves her chest, after all the information and worries that are stuck in her mind during the day. In order to ease the disturbance in her head, Emmy suggested she go and talk to Glen, but be prepared for what might happen. Olivia agrees with her friend, although worries occupy her mind, neither fear nor mystery of the unknown can conquer her heart. Her longing for an answer drives her decision to meet Glen Hopkins.
Olivia goes back into her office and peeks again at the time. It is now an hour before lunchtime. Since she has a lot of time left before she meets Glen, Olivia returns to her work. Time passes by quickly, which turns minutes into seconds, and when Olivia glimpses at the clock it is already twenty minutes before lunchtime. Olivia takes a deep breath, to make her mind clear, then piles up her papers and tidy up her desk. She picks up, the essential items, she must carry.
Wallet, phone, flashlights, and even firearms.
The coffee shop resides a few establishments away from the police station, but Olivia still rides in a car towards the place. At exact noon she reaches the outside of the coffee shop. Since it was already break time for all of the workers around the place, the coffee shop fills up with a bunch of people. Olivia enters the shop and wanders her eyes around, but didn’t see Glen.
She pulls up her phone from her pocket and looks at the screen if there were any messages. The screen have a bunch of notifications yet there were no messages from Glen. Olivia calls him, and the phone rings, then Glen picks up within a few seconds.
“Hello, Mr. Hopkins?”,
“Oh hey, Ms. Clark, where are you now?”, Glen asks her,
“Here in the coffee shop”, she said.
“Look to your right”, Glen instructed her. Olivia turned in her right direction, and there was Glen waving his hands.
