5 Misunderstanding

1253 Words
Miles led Kristi back to the bar where the bottle of wine was waiting with his empty glass beside it. Once there, Miles sat down, and Kristi nervously picked up the bottle. Her heart was beating very fast, and her face had turned red. She looked to Miles for final confirmation, and he nodded his head. "Go on," he said.   Then, just as she began to pour, Ray appeared. He grabbed her wrist and squeezed it violently. "What the hell is going on here?" he demanded. "You are being paid to clean floors and toilets, not to pour wine and seduce men!!!   "M-Mr. B-Black," Kristi stammered. "I-I-I-I-" She was at a complete loss for words.   "Didn't I say that you would be placed in the public relations department soon?" Ray hissed. "Why can't you wait, eh?"   Kristi bit her dry lips, and suddenly she found her words. "I'm sorry," she said. "I made a mistake. It won't happen again. Please let go of my arm, and I will go to work."   Before letting her go, Ray squeezed slightly harder, and he said, "Don't be climbing up on these men here. If you do, I will make you suffer for the entirety of your life."   As Ray let go of Kristi, he pushed her away, and she fled.   Ray glared at Miles, who had been watching the show with great interest. Miles smiled and shrugged innocently. "President Black," he said, "why are you also interested in this cutie? I think she is better than the work she does here. If it were up to me, I would give her a better job."   "And which job would you give her?" Ray asked sarcastically.   Miles shrugged and said, "If it were up to me, she wouldn't have to work at all, unless she wanted to. Regardless, though, I would have her as my woman!"   Ray chuckled but said nothing, which only made Miles more interested in Kristi.   ...   After that day, Kristi didn't see Ray for several days, which meant that she had a little bit more peace and quiet.   It was on the last of those days that, while cleaning, she heard a loud crash. She went to investigate, and soon discovered a rich-looking woman cursing mercilessly.   "You are shameless!" she shrieked. "How dare you seduce my husband! A woman like you is no better than a common streetwalker, capable of nothing more than selling your cunt for trinkets! Do you think men like you? You wish! They use you and abuse you, and when you get to be my age, they'll throw you away!"   Kristi froze when she saw who was being yelled at. It was Alicia, one of the club's more important Princesses. Alicia's face was wet, and it looked as if she had just been splashed with water. She had just been slapped. Also, her cheek was swollen, and there was blood on the corners of her mouth.   "b***h!" Alicia shouted back. "You can't control your husband. You are old and ugly, and you dare to scold me? I am young and beautiful, but look at you! It is no wonder that your man is cheating on you. You let yourself go, so you deserve what you get! I will never be like you because I'm not a disgusting pig!"   "You ..." The woman shivered with rage, and her eyes widened in anger. "You little b***h. Just wait and see! You will suffer!"   Kristi saw that Alicia looked a little embarrassed, and she kindly handed her handkerchief to her. The moment Alicia saw her, though, her face hardened. Alicia knocked Kristi's handkerchief to the ground in disgust and threatened her fiercely, saying, "This is none of your business. I warn you; if you tell anybody about what you've seen here, I will skin you alive!"   "Sorry," Kristi muttered. "I won't say anything." Kristi picked up her handkerchief and hurried away.   Kristi thought the matter was over, but in the afternoon, Alicia suddenly rushed in front of her. She raised her hand and slapped Kristi before she even knew what was happening. Alicia spat in Kristi's face and shouted, "You, b***h! How dare you spread the rumor to destroy my reputation!"   Kristi's cheek was sore, and her ears were buzzing. She looked up in amazement. "What?"   "Stop pretending to be innocent," Alicia growled. "This morning, you were the only one that saw me arguing with the shrew, so who else would be able to start the rumor? You deliberately said this, and you want everyone to view me as a joke! I will kill you!"   Alicia was practically crazy with anger. She reached out to pull Kristi's hair.   Kristi closed her eye in anticipation of the pain. If this were what it took to help Alicia feel better, then she would not resist. Before Alecia could get a firm hold of her hair, though, Miles grabbed her hand and squeezed it until she let go of Kristi's hair. "M-Mr. B-Bradford?" Alicia stammered. Her face turned white, and her skin broke out in gooseflesh.   Miles looked at her calmly and said, "This kind of shrewish behavior is not suitable for a Princess. You can dish it out, but I wonder if you can handle being on the receiving end. Did you just slap this cute little face? Do you think that that is proper behavior befitting a Princess?"   Alicia drew back her hand in horror and quickly apologized. "I'm very sorry," she said. "I was too impulsive!"   Kristi: "You don't need an apology. It was a misunderstanding. I would be angry too if someone started nasty rumors about me. I didn't start those rumors about you, though. I never would. You have to believe me!"   Miles turned to Alicia. He looked at her sternly and said, "This matter had better be over!"   "It is," Alicia whined.   Miles: "Good, now get out of here!" And as she turned around, he put his foot to her ass and pushed just hard enough for her to lose her balance and fall on her face. Through the bar, people began to laugh, and when Alicia got up, she was crying. Alicia looked around the place – as if she were looking for a friendly face – and when none was to be found, she ran into one of the empty boxes and locked herself in.   Miles looked at her and said, "This kind of shrewish behavior is not suitable for a Princess.
