As soon as he walked into the barn, Sally Beecher, who was sitting working at the workbench, jumped up with big eyes. “Robbie!” He smiled. “Surprised?” “To say the least,” she replied. “What are you doing here? How did you get here?” “I need to see Linda.” She laid her screwdriver down. “Where’s Sandra?” “Sally!” he said more sternly. “I need to see Linda.” She frowned. “Linda’s out in the fields.” “Will you take me to her?” Sally gave him a suspicious eye as she walked over. She nodded and they headed toward the door. Robbie stopped at the doorway and scanned the area again for sentries. “Sally, where are all the guards?” “There haven’t been any for some time.” Robbie followed Sally out to the strawberry patch near the rear of the house where there were two dozen women tending
