Chapter 24
At Peaceful Valley . . .
Melissa prepared breakfast for herself, Kim, and Brenda. This was the routine the past several mornings. Brenda usually helped with setting the table, but other than that she helped Kim, especially with her shoes so she wouldn’t have to bend over.
Kim was annoyed that she still needed help from Brenda for basic necessities. Melissa seemed annoyed at both of them for always getting in the way, but they were not really annoyed at each other. They were aggravated by the fact that their men had been gone so long. They could be dead for all they knew. They were not kids playing with toys. They were playing with fire trying to overthrow the remaining government of Corpus Christi.
