Chapter One: Arthur Dayne.
The sky was an odd shade of grey. Though it was day time , thick grey clouds covered the sky. Arthur Dayne was standing alone in a graveyard. He was dressed in a white shirt , black tie , a black suit and a black Overcoat.
His expression was grim. In front of him was two old tombstones covered in mold and dust. the names of his parents were written on the the two prehistoric rocks. They both lost their lives back when Arthur was fifteen.
After standing there for about ten minutes, the tall handsome young man finally decided to depart. He remained expressionless as he continued to move forward.
Arthur lost his parents when he was a kid. On that fateful Tuesday afternoon he came back home and found the lifeless bodies of him parents. He saw purple strings coming from their bodies and He saw a silhouette ominously standing over their lifeless bodies.
After the Autopsy were done it was discovered that they were killed but not in a normal way, their souls had been forcefully stripped from their bodies. If this process is forced the body of the Host dies a very painful death.
When young Arthur Dayne heard this information he wanted revenge. He had no one else to turn to after their death. He moved from foster home to foster home trying his hardest survive. Years later he became a detective, he tried his hardest to find the killer but everything he did lead to failure.
About two years ago , He went to a 'prophet' that told him the only way to find out who killed his parents was to join The Watchers. The Watchers are a group of people that specialize in the investigation of the unknown.
At that time he , of course, did not believe in the prophecy but after a long time of searching he finally decided to give it a chance.
In the present, he stood out side the Main building of The Watchers. A tall skyscraper of about 120 floors. In front of him was a long fleet of stairs that lead to the entrance of the building. People dressed in business attire were walking in and out of the building. He slowly walked up the stairs and entered the building.
He walked to the receptionist. A short blonde haired young lady dressed in a brown uniform , was seated at the receptionists desk.
"Good morning sir," she said "what can I do for you?" she said with a welcoming smile.
" I'm here for the Enrollment exam!" he responded in a low tone. The young lady scanned his face , trying to gauge whether or not he was actually serious. She picked up the landline besides her and called.
She exchanged greatings with an unknown voice. She then explained that they have a 'Code Red'. As soon as she hanged up she gave Arthur a bright smile and pointed him to the direction of the Enrollment hall.
He gave hear a small nod then proceeded to walk in the direction the receptionist had pointed. He walked through a huge hall way . The wall had expensive paintings from all around the world. As he walked around he kept glancing at the paintings on the walls. After about five minutes of trekking he arrived at a small hall.
Six rows of chairs were arranged opposite of a raised dias. The chairs were filled with people. They were all chatting and laughing.
Arthur sat at a chair in the far back. At least seventy people were in the room. He calmly scanned the room to get a good read on these people. After about twenty minutes of waiting , a tall dark hair young woman dressed in a black suit walked into the stage. She clapped her hands to get the attention of the crowd. She then cleared her voice and begun to talk.
" Good morning? My name is Claire Walls. I am here to welcome you to the Watchers. the watch as a custodians of peace and tranquility in the five regions of Pacifica City. There will be a test to see whether or not you are worthy to join The watchers. I will be your humble examiner. My job will be to test whether or not you meet the standards of The Watchers. whether or not you fail is up to you , all that I ask of is your corporation." She said to the crowd. her eyes scanned the room to look for questions but none were asked.
Mrs Walls pulled out a list and begun to call the names of the Seventy five people in the room. The room grew tense as each name got announced. She called the names one by one and each time a person would enter , Mrs Walls would shout that the aspirant has failed the test.
Ten minutes after beginning she has called fifteen people and only Two had passed. Arthur remained calm as he patiently waited for his name to get called. He had this ability to always remain calm under pressure.
After about sixty people, He finally heard his name. Arthur slowly stood up and confidently walked to the back. At the door, Mrs Claire Walls was waiting for him. She escorted Him to a outdoor garden were the test was held. Tension grew thick as he slowly followed her behind.
They walked on a narrow path. On both side of the the narrow path were flowers of different types and colours. Arthur found himself staring at the flowers in amusement. It was hard to see flowers in Pacifica City .
At the end of the path was a fountain which oddly had dark red blood flowing from it instead of water. Mrs Walls stood in front of the fountain. Arthur stared at the red fountain in confusion. He wondered what witchcraft stood in front of him.
Mrs Walls turned to face him. She then glanced at the fountain and then back at Arthur.
" You will have to drink the blood water flowing from this fountain, and yes, it is real blood." She said to Arthur. He glanced at the Blood water then back at Mrs Walls.
He understood stood that the fountain was a sacred place of worship. He had heard rumors that The Watchers had the blood of the Rain God. What was in front of him was definitely the Rain God's blood.
He took five steps forward and stood right in front of the Fountain. Mrs Walls added that the drink would be very painful.
Arthur Dayne did not care. Even if he had to eat s**t he would do it with passion. He would do anything to find the bastard that killed his parents. Arthur Dayne took a cup that was conveniently next to the blood fountain.
His hand then scoped up a cup full of blood. Reluctantly he chugged the whole glass of crimson red blood. It was disgusting and he wanted to spit it all out but he forced himself to swallow it all. he felt his head get light. Mrs Walls said that if he passed out he would fail.
He felt really dizzy and his vision turned blood red. His body was in pain but he still did not pass out. He could hear many whispers coming from all direction telling him to kill himself.
After about five minutes of agony, he went silent. He then heard Mrs Walls voice telling him that he had passed the test. he slowly opened his eyes and saw her smiling at him. She then pointed him to the room past the Fountain.
