When he got to the mill the next morning, Ward went to the office to recheck his assignment. Truth be told he really wanted to see Tyler and assure himself that everything was all right. When he checked the worksheet, his stomach lurched. Tyler had crossed out his name next to Ward’s for working together on the delivery dock. He had written a name Ward didn’t recognize in its place. Tyler’s name was not on the list anywhere. “Can I help you with something?” Nancy asked, as always in a sort of flirtatious manner. Well, at least it doesn’t seem that the news that I’m queer has gotten to her yet, Ward thought. “No. Thanks. Just double checking the work schedule.” Just then Tyler came out of the office. He looked at Ward and smiled, then went to Sarah Anne and began to discuss something.
