Following dinner they left the restaurant. The summer night was warm. Lots of folks were strolling along the street. Ward wondered what it would be like to be able to take Tyler’s hand. However, he decided that would be pushing the envelope a bit too far. It was enough to just be out on a date with the man he loved, even though they couldn’t show it.
They went into an ice cream shop. Ward ordered butter pecan. He noticed Tyler hesitating. Remembering it was Tyler’s favorite, Ward leaned close to Tyler’s ear.
“Go ahead, having the same as me ain’t gonna out you.”
Tyler chuckled, gave him the finger, and pushed him away. He ordered the butter pecan.
