Chapter 3

Chapter 3. The weekend flew by fast. This time, I didn't go to any more parties like I normally do. You know, partying from Friday to Sunday. Instead, I called Melanie to my place and we drunk ourselves to bed the next day. Ava complained the entire time but she just had to deal with it. That's how it is, when your roommate loves alcohol and parties! You deal with it! Sam came to see me as he had promised and I broke things off with him. I didn't even give him a reason. My excuse was that I wanted to focus on my studies and he actually laughed at that. When he asked about Carson, I refused to talk about him. It was painful for the both of us. After Nolan, I vowed to not get in another relationship, but then Sam came along and he gave me super strong stokes and I couldn't resist the urge to be with him and have something solid. I was kidding when I said that we were just having mutual s*x. That was supposed to push him away and somehow prepare him for the break up. Sam is someone I wouldn't want to hurt, and I'm hurt that I did just that by breaking up with him. Do you hate Monday's? I do. It's on a Monday today and my next class starts in a hour so I'm trying to prepare for that. Physically and mentally. You're blessed if you don't prepare your mind for a two-hour lecture. I literally have to remind myself all the time that, this is for my future. I put on a white crop top written 'b***h Boss' on the chest area. It's my favorite cloth. Some denim booty shorts, and black knee high boots. Satisfied with the look, I apply makeup on my face; I'm always on makeup, put on a black trench coat that reaches my mid thigh, and go to the living room for some breakfast. Ava is already at it. She dresses casually and she doesn't apply any make up so, she is always the first to finish preparing for school. Her life is so simple sometimes I envy her. Sometimes!! "Will you give me a ride today?" She asks once I'm seated. "Good morning too Ava!" "I'm riding with you to school." "You have your car! And, it's good manners to greet people in the morning." "Whatever! My car broke down yesterday when I went to the grocery store." I groan. "Fine!" It's not that I don't want to ride with her. This just means that I'll leave school early to bring her home. Gulping down the last sip of coffee, the door bell rings. "I hope that's not Sam!" I say getting up to open the door. I know he is stubborn and all, but he should accept the break up and leave me alone. "I hope it's him!" I raise my middle finger at her. "f**k you, Ava!" "Eew!" At the door, my boyfriend stands looking all handsome and gorgeous and sexy and everything nice. For the first time, I notice his strong manly cologne. He smells so nice. "Hi, Alexa!" Here comes awkwardness... "Hi, Carson." "May I, uhm, come in?" Jeez! He is so nervous. "I was actually leaving." "Oh, that's good then." "What brings you here Carson?" "I'll be driving you to school." "I have a car!" "I am your boyfriend now. Boyfriends do these things." "Oh, yeah!" Seems like he plays by the rules too. "I'll just say goodbye to Ava then." "No need. I got the car keys. I'll see you in the evening." She answers showing me my car keys. She was eavesdropping all along. If she weren't my best friend, sigh!! In the car, it's just as I expected. It's like we both want to say something but at the same time, no one wants to start the conversation. We drive for around five minutes in silence. "Any music?" He finally speaks. I clear my throat faintly. "It's fine this way." "What kind of music do you like?" "Sad songs!" "Huh!? Why sad songs?" "I don't know. The emotions they bring out maybe!" "That's weird coming from you." "What? You think I don't have feelings? Just because I act all bitchy and I know how to stand up for myself doesn't mean I am heartless dude! Gosh, that's so mean." "Hey, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it that way." I fake anger. "Whatever!" I don't know what to say to him. It's fine by me if we drive silently to school or whenever he will take me. "Alexa, I'm sorry. I just wanted to get to know you." He explains again looking at me. "Eyes on the road Carson!" He doesn't say another word the rest of the drive. Carson isn't this type of a guy. He doesn't let anyone talk back at him or win an argument. He doesn't even say sorry to people. He is this arrogant dude who thinks that the world rotates for,and because of him. There's more to this whole game than meets the eye. I don't believe that it's just a dare and for me to find out the truth, I have to stick with him longer. I have heard of crazy dares like making someone fall in love with you or have s*x with them or even prank calling your family but marriage, this is too... I don't know, much?? I lost my virginity to a dare and I've played some super dirty ones over the years. I always win and that's why they call me the queen. I've never chickened out on a dare, ever!! It's creepy to think that I will be marrying Carson in less than two weeks now. All in the name of a game. That's one dare I never thought would be given to me. Hell, I don't know how Elise thought of it. And why Carson didn't say no to it. "Why did you update about this relationship on your social media accounts?" I ask after a long silence. "To make it believable." I should have expected that answer. "Is it necessary to get married?" "That's the dare we were given." "I was given! You can back out of it and save both our asses from her madness. Admit it, we hate each other. We will be a toxic married couple. To take me to your parents, that's just crazy." "You said you will do it." "Hold on. You're having fun being in this situation, aren't you." "We're here!" He says pulling up at the school's parking lot. "We're talking about something serious, Carson!" I say in a raised voice. "What? You have to deal with it. You said you could do it. I tried to stop you but you wanted to do the dare. Show us that you can, Alexa!" He answers in a raised voice too. Wow! He just talked back at me. You still wonder why I hate him so much? There, you have it! "First drive together and we're already fighting. What a perfect couple." I mutter sarcastically. He gets out of the car and goes to my side to open the door for me. It surprises me! After the fight we just had; which isn't really a fight, I expect he would leave me alone in the car or worse, kick me out of it. I made this bed! I should stop complaining and lie on it! "Don't fight me!" He says pulling me close to him when I'm already out of the car. I am pressed against his hard body and as uncomfortable as that feels, it's a sweet feeling. His body is masculine and lying on his chest comes with some sort of security. Stupid, I know! "What are doing?" "Everyone is watching!" "I don't understand you Carson!" "I'm sorry for this but we have to do it!" Before I can ask what, he pulls me impossibly closer and his lips captures mine in a frenzy. Hundreds of students watching.
