William looked a little confused as he stared at me and my sister but I hoped and prayed within me that he would take the chance of us being together.
“Belleann” He responded and walked closer to me, holding my hands in his. A smile formed on my face but immediately disappeared into thin air the moment I heard the words that followed.
“What I feel for your sister is real. I wasn’t forced to be with her. She is my mate and she is my Luna. Stop trying so hard.
Whatever happened between us…. Is now in the past.” He revealed and my heart shattered again.
I could literally feel the pain that I had to stagger backward. It was just too much to hold back.
“What..what are you saying? She promised to let us go. She promised to let us start a life of our own if you choose me. She isn’t upset. You do not have to be scared of her. She…”
“Stop trying so hard. Please, let us pretend whatever happened never happened.
It is all in the past now and it doesn’t matter anymore.” He pleaded. I was quiet for a while as I tried to string my words together but it kept breaking apart before I could get it together.
“I dedicated a whole year of my life to you… I cared for you and….” I sighed and let out a sigh. I wasn’t going to cry anymore. They weren’t worth my tears.
“You heard him, didn’t you?” She questioned and smirked. “Henceforth….” She started and paused for a second.
“You will be my maid. “ She revealed. I raised my head immediately to look at her. Her maid? Of course, that was torture.
“Why do I have to be your maid? Are you doing this to spite me? How…”
“We had an agreement, didn’t we?” She questioned and I was silent. Of course, I should have known better. She never loses. “I have to go now. You shall resume your duties tomorrow.” She instructed and walked out of the room.
I was quiet for a while as I sat on the floor and crossed my arms.
“I am sorry this has to happen and you have to be in this state.” William started. His apologies made me nauseous. “ I wish I could turn back the hands of time but…”
“Turn back the hands of time so we never happened? So we shouldn’t have existed? “ I raised my head to look at him, spite evident in my voice. “If you had the chance, you wouldn’t have done a thing. “ I paused and he was silent as well. “Did you ever love me? The promises and assurances… were they all a lie?” I questioned.
“My feelings for you were true. I meant every word I said.”
“Then what changed?” I stood up abruptly and stood right in front of him, searching for answers in his eyes even though he tried to bury his face away from me. “Why can’t we…”
“She is my mate. “
“You can reject her. We can start a life of our own and we can….”
“I am sorry but… the deed is done. Deal with it and embrace it. I have to leave. My Luna awaits me.”
“That witch… that witch has bewitched you? That useless girl has made to think….”
“Not another word!” He grabbed my neck with a force that made my eyes widen as I struggled for my breath. “She is my woman and your Luna!” He yelled with so much anger I had never seen him exhibit.
Just then, he let go of me as though he had gained his senses and I crashed to the floor, coughing so hard.
All because of her?
“I….” He started calmly. “I am sorry, I did not…. I have to go.” He spoke and headed out immediately.
I guess I was such a fool for believing he would come back to me after he had denied me in front of his parents as well as had chosen my sister over me. My heart ached so bad that I had to hold my chest.
The night was cold but I managed to lay on the floor, worried, scared, and broken.
I let out a sigh as I knew I had a new life to face ahead, a dangerous one at that.
William had not objected to the idea of me being her maid when she uttered it, so it meant I was going to be her maid indeed.

I was woken up by the early morning chatters from the maids right behind the door of where I was lying. I barely slept for the night as my whole body ached so badly.
The Lycan king would be coming today and every maid had to make sure everything was in order.
Thankfully, I would not be joining them that morning. Instead, I would have to help the 'new' Luna get ready. I let out a sigh and buried my face in my palms.
I really couldn’t stand the humiliation anymore and I knew I had to leave as soon as I could. I had to run away, damning the consequences.
A couple of minutes later, the door to the dungeon where I stayed was opened and I was served breakfast. It was Colleen again and just like always, she had a creepy stare. She passed me one last stare before walking out of the room.
No sooner had I begun to eat when I suddenly noticed the quietness from the pack and for reasons unknown, my heart began to race out of fear. Was something going to happen to me?
While still in doubt, the door flung open and William walked right in, worry etched on his face and his hands crossed behind him.
“What do you want this time?” I questioned as I lowered my head. I wasn’t ready to listen to any sort of apology.
“Good morning, Ann” He started and I was quiet. He let out a sigh and crouched to my level.
“I know you are upset and you have every reason to be. I however want you to realize it wasn’t my fault.
I couldn’t deny my mate hence the reason for us being together.” He paused and I looked up at him. He looked quite worried and sick.
“Alex is your sister and I know how difficult it would be for you, having to bow to your younger sister as the Luna of the pack. It would even be more disastrous if you worked as a maid for her.” He added.
He was beginning to sound reasonable but I had no idea where he was heading to. He let out a sigh and looked at me.
“To stop future occurrences of issue happening, my Father and I have decided …. That you leave this pack. You will be sold to another pack.” He revealed and a gasp escaped my lips.
“Wh…what do you mean?” I questioned, perplexed at what he had said to me.
“No…No, you cannot do that. You cannot sell me off! I do not want to be sold!” I yelled.
“Trust me, this… is for your good. I do not want you to be harmed. My Luna does not like you and I do not want her to hurt you!” He spoke.
“I can defend myself! Stop acting like you care about me. You want me out so you can have the freedom to do whatever you want… I am not a hindrance anyway. “ I folded my arms.
He tried to speak but he suddenly went mute and immediately, stepped out of the room. He returned a couple of minutes later with some guards who pulled me out.
“Let go of me!” I yelled as I struggled to let myself go but it was futile. They weren’t willing to let me go, after all, the Alpha had instructed them to pull me along.
I could see the scornful smiles and mockery etched on the maids' faces as I was pulled away.
“Wait!” A loud thunderous voice interrupted us as we walked away and the Alpha clenched his fist. Just then, a young man with the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen walked out of the room and proceeded toward us with a frown etched on his face.
The Alpha as well as the guards bowed to him immediately.
Could that be…. The Lycan king?
“My Lord…” The Alpha called. He maintained a frown on his face as he stared at me, scanning me from head to toe.
“I want the girl.” He ordered. By the girl…. I wasn’t sure he meant me but from all indications, it seemed to be me. What was he.. oh no.
I have heard of the terrible things the Lycan King does to ordinary wolves like me and… it could be terrible.
“I am sorry, my Lord but you can’t have her. She is…”
“Name your price.” He spoke, still not taking his eyes off me.
“She isn’t for sale but…”
The Lycan King smirked and moved closer to me. His mysterious aura nearly threw me off balance. His physique was intimidating.
Swiftly, he pulled William by the neck and his legs hung loosely in the air as he struggled to breathe while the Lycan king was still not taking his eyes off me.
Fear swept through me and I was immediately paralyzed with fear.
“I get whatever I want and no one… not even you can stop me.”
He spoke and with anger, threw the Lycan king to the floor, causing a loud thud.
“I will leave with the girl……. Now!”
