~Belleann
For a millisecond, my brain ceased to function. I tilted my head to look at her and she had a devilish grin that disappeared just as soon as it came.
The stares were still on me but unlike before, some stared at me with so much anger and hatred, Alpha William's mother included.
“You stole my dress! That was the dress I was supposed to wear today!” Alexandra screamed.
A gasp escaped my lips and my eyes widened. How could she say that? Murmurs began just like I expected.
“I didn’t steal anything. I didn’t steal your dress!” I defended myself. Of course, it was pointless. No one likes me anyway. She was their Luna and now, they would believe her over me.
“You liar! How dare you lie to my face?” She yelled again at me, her eyes shooting daggers as she proceeded towards me.
“Lie to your face? I didn’t steal anything! William himself gave me the dress!”
I could hear everyone gasp in shock and they all turned to look at William. His mother and Father were not excluded. I hoped he was going to say something and get me out of the mess and disgrace my sister was trying to pin on me but unfortunately, he let me down once again.
“I do not know what you are saying. I..I.. I didn’t give you any dress.” He responded and looked away from me.
I staggered backward as the tears forced its way out of my eyes. I could barely breathe as I stared at him.
“How can you say such, William? Why are you doing this to me? What have I…”
“Oh, come on. You have caused enough havoc. You have stolen my dress and now? Tell me, why would he give you such a costly dress?”
“Because he is my lover!” I yelled at the top of my voice and the hall suddenly became quiet for a second.
“You lying animal! You stole my dress and now, you want to take my man?” She crossed her arms. “Guards! Lock her up!” She ordered, her lips curving into a grin.
“Stop!” Alpha Derrick; William's father yelled immediately, his breathing on the heavy side and it sent a shiver down my spine. He was very upset. “I want everyone out now! “
Without uttering a word, every one of the guests began to leave the hall. The maids and guards left as well.
“Alex, Belleann..” He spoke and turned to his wife and his son. “Come with me.” He ordered and we did as instructed. William tried to avoid staring at me and it shattered me.
“Can you explain what had just happened?” He questioned his son as soon as we got into a quiet room.
“I do not know, Father. I … don’t think she stole the dress. I guess there is a misunderstanding.” He started. I was disappointed in him. Why didn’t he vindicate me out there?
Now, he had to reject my sister and accept me. “..but it was only as a gift. We never dated. I gave her as a gift because I wanted her to look good.” He spoke with confidence.
“Is that the truth?” Alpha diverted his gaze to me and I swallowed the lump of saliva before looking at William. He had denied me once again right in front of his parents hence it was pointless holding on to whatever thread of hope I believed still existed.
“Yes, my Lord. “ I bowed.
“You made a mess of my son’s celebration. You dented his image and you should be punished!” The Luna yelled at the top of her voice and I shrieked in fear.
The Alpha was quiet as he stared at me and I bowed quickly.
“Please, my Lady. Forgive my sister. She was just being delusional. She has mental issues.” Alex went on her knees. Mental issues? A scoff escaped my lips. She was a hypocrite!
“She has to be locked away from everyone till a decision is made.” The Luna ordered and immediately, two guards walked into the room and carted me away like I was a thief. I was thrown into a very small room that housed sacks of hay.
The room was quite dark and only a small hole allowed a little ray of sunshine to shine in the room. I was hurt and shattered.
If there was anyone I would imagine to be the Judas, I would never have thought it would be my lover. The sweet words he spoke to me always, the reassurance… it was all a lie.
Seconds rolled into minutes and minutes into hours. I waited patiently for my judgment. Just as I was about to sleep, I heard the door creak open. My brows furrowed immediately on seeing who was there.
He halted as he stared at me, looking so sorry and sad.
“Ann, I….”
“Don’t you dare take another step towards me? “ I threatened.
“I know you are upset and you have every right to be but please, try to hear me out. It wasn’t my fault. I can explain.” He urged.
“There is nothing to explain. You should be with your Luna now, why are you here? To see how broken I am?” I mocked.
Even though I pretended to not be hurt, I could feel my heart tearing. It was hurtful to be disgusted by what once made me happy. It was so difficult to hate the man I loved with my whole heart.
“I love you, Belleann and you know it but she… she is my mate..” He responded.
“If you loved me like you claimed, you would have rejected her but I guess you are ashamed of me.”
“No, not at all. I am not ashamed of you. Ever since I was born, my life has been for the pack. My marital life is no exception.” He began to explain and my brows arched. “I had to choose a woman who….” He halted and let out a sigh.
I scoffed and shook my head. “Say it..”
“Belleann, I…”
“Say it!” I yelled and he was quiet as he stared at me.
“Your sister has her wolf and she is my mate. That is all that matters. It is my duty as the next Alpha to do what makes my people safe and make them happy.” He spoke and I bit my lips. I wasn’t going to cry.
“You chose my sister over me because she has a wolf and I am wolfless? You told me it didn’t matter and you were not bothered by it!”
“If it was me, I wouldn’t be bothered by that but this is about the pack, why are you not seeing it? Why are you being selfish?” He questioned once again. I gasped and looked at him.
Selfish? My whole life had been a mistake. From my parents… to my sister and now…my lover.
“I am sorry but… it is a decision I had to take in a hurry. “ He answered and turned his back to me.
“But you love her, don’t you? “ I questioned and he halted once again.
“You love my sister. You would choose her over me a billion times. This isn’t about the pack. This is about you. You only care about yourself.
You didn’t think about me, did you? If I hadn’t come there, you wouldn’t have told me, would you? And now, I became a laughing stock for them all? I have served you all my life!”
“Enough!” He yelled. “My pack needs a Luna who has her wolf and can protect them. It isn’t my fault you didn’t fit in that category!” He yelled but immediately became quiet.
I stared at him too, wondering how the man I had loved and fallen in love with would hurt me with such words. That was my greatest insecurity.
Being wolfless was the reason I was sold to that pack and it was also the reason why my younger sister always acted like she was older because she had her wolf and I didn’t.
“Ann, I….I am sorry, I shouldn’t….”
“Leave,” I ordered and turned my back to him.
“Ann, please, listen to me. I did not…”
“You have said enough, leave,” I spoke once again, trying so hard to not express my anger.
“Ann, I….”
“Leave!” I yelled.
