TESS HAD JUST FINISHED her book when sound carried from beyond the bedroom. Voices, movement… Daire and Styx left hours ago and since coming into the bedroom to give her father space, she’d stayed there.
Someone went into the room opposite, the master, where all the supplies had been stored as far as she knew. Setting her book on the nightstand, she slipped off the bed and went to open the door. She didn’t go out, just peeked to see who was there. The master bedroom door was open and she didn’t see anyone else.
If they’d gone out and left her, she’d have the place to herself. Though it wasn’t exactly like she had big plans to party or go wild.
