THE OUTER EDGE of the hurricane dumped enough rain on Crutchfield County to keep hounds in kennels through the week. By Saturday the ground was still soggy but not enough to cancel another day of sport.
Ozymandias backed off Thumper’s trailer and immediately went on full alert—ears pricked, head up, eyes rolling. It was his first visit to the Prestons’ BoSox Farm. Overwhelmed by unfamiliar sights, sounds, and smells, Ozzy pranced around on the sodden turf as Thumper secured him to the side of the trailer. Quickly finishing the last preparation details, Thumper hopped on before the young horse slid into a meltdown and became completely unmanageable.
