That Feeling.

1803 Words
Alvia's POV. As I stare at the screen of the phone in my hand, my mind goes a thousand miles per second, thinking about the connection I have with what is displayed on the screen. This cannot be happening. Although I barely even understand what is truly happening, I know it is no good. It cannot be any good. Bond between werewolves and humans? Is this a joke or something? Miley seems to notice the freeze in my demeanor because she is suddenly clearing her throat and taking her phone from my grasp. "Uh like I said Alv, it is just a conspiracy theory and I don't even know if its real okay? There is no need to get all shaken up" "Yea. Sure... Its just a theory" I say that more to myself than to her "Not real. It is not real" "Anyway, you wouldn't believe who I bumped into today" Miley suddenly perks up, that gossip glint finding its way into her eyes. "Who?" "Lanrae" She says, a giggle following her words. I tilt my brows. "Who is Lanrae? I'm not sure I remember anyone with that name" "Ugh. We used to call him Dawson back in school because he looked a lot like Mr Dawson" She pauses, giving me time to think "Do you remember him now?'' I am about to shake my head again when the name and face suddenly clicks in my mind, a surprised laugh escaping my lips. "Ohh. What the hell is Lanrae doing in Mayfair? He told us he was going to Tyrise, didn't he?" I ask and she nods. "Apparently, his family is still there, he just came to Mayfair for the fun of it. Girl, you would not believe how pretty he is now" She gushes "I cannot explain that transformation, but it is massive, I almost swooned over when he looked at me" "Really? Where did you see him?" "At work. We are partnering with the company he works with. And guess what?" I roll my eyes. "What now?" "He asked me of you" She whispers like it is some secret. My brows raise and almost meet my hairline. "What?! He remembers me?!" I yell in surprise. Lanrae-- Dawson-- and I never really talked, there was just a rumour going around back then that he had a crush on me and when I called him to confront him, he did not deny it. I can remember very clearly he just shrugged and said it was true but he wasn't going to do anything about it. I cannot believe he still remembers me. "I gave him your number by the way" Miley mumbles, when she looks at me and sees the surprised look on my face, she adds "He asked for it" with a shrug. I shut my eyes to control myself from throttling her. I hate when she gives out my number to random people without my permission, it is like forcing me to build relationships I don't care for. Miley goes back to watching her phone screen and I am left to my thoughts. My thoughts that happen to revolve around one particular person that I barely know. I am not sure if I like this, for some reason, it feels like torture. Why should I be tormented with thoughts of one person like this? My mind goes to what Miley told me minutes ago, about that bond. I don't think I want that. I am definitely not ready for such a forced commitment, no matter how much I am drawn to him. I almost blush at how eager I am to see him again. I have a lot of questions, questions that I hope I can muster up courage to ask because I am basically jelly in his presence, lost and hypnotized in the valley of his eyes. "Are you really not going to tell me what happened today?" Miley suddenly asks, making me jump in my seat. I look to my left to see her watching me closely, her elbow leaning on the back of the couch as she faces me, sitting on her side. Her eyes hold a worried look and I know she is dying to know what truly happened, but she knows better than to prod further than I let her. "It is nothing you should be worried about" I tell her and she rolls her amber eyes. "You are making it pretty obvious that it is. As a matter of fact, I am already worried. You keep spacing out and getting lost in your own head and I know you try to hide it, but that excitement of finally being in the city of your dreams is barely there" She rants, a frown on her face. "You shouldn't worry about me, Miley. I'm fine and trust me, I am excited. I'm just tired I guess. It has been a long day" "Sure, going to class and shopping makes it an extremely long day, doesn't it?" She says sarcastically. I am already halfway to my bed before she even finishes talking, and I plop down on it. If it were to be any other day, I would stay and fight it out with her, but I have been fighting with my thoughts all day, I believe I need a break. I shake my flip flops off my leg and lay properly on my side, a silent cue for Miley to leave. I hear her huff from where I lay, and seconds later, the slam of my front door is heard. The next time I wake up, I am surprised to see the atmosphere so bright and noisy. The life that can be heard in the streets makes me sit up immediately. How long did I sleep for? Is it morning? I see my phone beside me and turn it on, sighing when I see that I am almost an hour away from being late to today's class, which means I will have enough time to doll up like I wish. Pulling the blanket off my legs, I climb out of my bed and walk into the toilets, my fingers under my shirt and itching my stomach. I reach the sink and pick up my toothbrush, but I jump back in fear when I look up to see my reflection in the mirror. The little mascara and eyeliner I applied yesterday is now smudged all over my eye, and my hair is basically all over the place, sticking out from the band I used to tie it. I look like I just got back from the most intense war ever. Sighing to myself, I blow a strand of hair that fell over my lips and wet my brush. About twenty minutes later, I'm done brushing and taking my bath and I am drying my hair with a towel. I cannot tame the anxiety in my body for what will happen today. I am already exhausted for today, seeing as my first day here was eventful enough. I don't know if I want to see him again, no rather, I don't know if I'm ready to face him again. I don't know if I'm ready to even comprehend what is going on between us because it seems like a maze of feelings and thoughts. As I step out of my door, the first thing that my eyes fall on is the ice cream mini store by the other side of the street. A smile rises to my face as my feet carry me to it. I remember my mother telling me, that whenever I start my day with something sweet, especially if it is something I love, I can be guaranteed that the rest of my day would go smoothly. I pay for it as the seller hands it to me, my tongue licking on the topping of the cone. I walk to school with a skip to my step, I almost have to control myself from singing out loud. That is what ice cream does to me, it brings happy memories that feels my heart with warmth. I pass a darkened corner by the street and immediately, my steps begin to slow down. That feeling... That feeling of being watched, being followed, like a warm but cold blanket of fear envelopes you and you begin to feel goosebumps rising on you neck and arms. That feeling of prolonged contemplation on whether you should just run, or you should turn around and see who is following you. I give in to the latter, turning around instantly and searching the corner with my eye, although, I don't see anything. The street is busy and everyone seems to be minding their business. I shake my head and go back to my walk, licking on my almost melted ice cream. Minutes later, I am opening the door to my lecture hall and stepping inside, smiling in satisfaction when I see that most of the chairs are empty. I would never get over the satisfaction that comes with being early to a class that gives marks for it. The professor comes in and that is when the seats start to fill up. My mind races every time the door to the hall is pushed open, anxiety killing me to see who will walk through the door next. Luckily though, the lecture ends without me seeing who I don't want to see, which makes the day successful enough, at least I was able to focus on today's class. I go through the rest of my classes for the day and it is almost 1:00pm by the time I am finally leaving the University. On my way home, that feeling comes back again, but this time, it feels closer. I consider turning around, but I decide against it because that would make me even more scared. I try to pretend nothing is happening, but I cannot shake the feeling that this person is getting closer. It feels like the person is only a few steps behind me, probably yielding a dagger and getting ready to strike--- The breath is sucked from my lungs the moment I am suddenly pulled into a dark corner, away from the busy street. I am about to call for help when a hand suddenly clamps over my mouth and I am pinned to the wall. The actions of my attacker is surprisingly not violent. In fact, it is soft even. I open my eyes slowly and that is when I register who is in front of me-- the long hair, the sharp green eyes, the tattoos that are visible only by the ray of light coming into the corner from the street and the full lips. The full lips that move smoothly but swiftly as he says, "Don't scream"
