Deacon's POV

This definitely isn't the next question I thought she'd ask

I knew the questions would keep rolling, her head kept creating new questions. It is frustrating and thrilling at the same time.

Not being able to read her mind not to even think of controlling her, it is the frustrating part. I've always known what humans want to say before uttering it but with her, my head is blank. I can't think of the next thing she'll say, so it kind of kept me on my toes. She is definitely an odd one, unreadable and mysterious.

"Ahem!" She drags me back to the conversation I totally forgot about

"See, my jeans are totally dry" I deflect from the absurd question

"Oh, you were right after all"

I think deflecting actually worked.

"So I guess the answer is no?"

I feign ignorance

"Me going to your pack? I get that its rather abrupt. But you can't blame me, this is a lot to take in"

Of course it's abrupt and totally unnecessary. Dad doesn't know I've found my mate and it'll stay that way till I'm sure. I don't want to raise his hopes and dash it.

I'm not ready for the cheesy annoying questions my brothers will blast my ears with. It looked like I'll never have a mate, I sure lost faith in the moon goddess granting me my mate after searching for years.

My only reason for intently searching for a mate was to help dad run the pack as he was aging. I am one of the one tenth of the wolves that didn't really care about the mate bond

I need a mate because it is expedient and an obligation. Left to me, I can stay alone, run the pack and still be perfect.

For all the centuries I've sought for my mate, I never imagined my mate to be a human. It is rare and I don't know how dad and the others will take it

If I were to be honest, a part of me wanted her to reject me then. I'll have the perfect excuse to stop this senseless quest.

My wolf part keeps leaping in ecstasy and he kept distracting me

I have never seen this side of him. He is always sharp and attentive, proactive and diligent. And now he is acting like a teenager who just got his first kiss

"We've been through this, keep calm. " I caution my wolf part

"I've waited years, long boring years for this moment and you indeed expect me to keep still. Hell nah!"

I get too lost to notice Alvia standing and walking away from me towards what looks like a kitchen

I watch her long black hair flow down to her hip as she unties her bun. The funny looking band around her hair weirdly complements her hair making it shimmer at the reflection of the sun

I was to engrossed in the conversation then that I didn't notice how the yellow dress fits her petit figure perfectly. It looks like a facsimile of what the Lunas wear for the annual balls

"So are you just gonna sit and say nothing?" Alvia says with a confused or angry expression I couldn't really discern

"Um, yeah I mean no. Sorry" I splutter getting embarrassed

"We'll see" I say as I walk towards the door

"Again with this clause, you leave me way more confused. So what are we? A couple? Are we like dating now? Is there gonna be a marriage or something? I need answers to all these questions." Alvia raises her voice letting out a scoff at the end

Does she think I'm happy with all these? Does she really think I would ever talk to her if not for this f*****g mate bond and attraction and obligation and a lot of b.s. I could sense anger springing up but letting it out will do more harm.

I hate been bound by rules or anything at all I can't control

"With time, you'll receive answers to your questions. I can't be here now. We'll see alright?" I reassure her and I turn to leave

"Fine, whatever " she scoffs and opens the door signaling me to leave

"You've successfully annoyed her, here is your trophy" my wolf part speaks in sarcasm

"Not now, please" I silence him and stomps off.

"This is the last thing I should be worried about"

"Dad and the others are scheming ways to eliminate Arthur pack completely and finally getting victory and I'm here chasing a human. A f*****g human" I complain to my wolf part

"Just get this done so dad doesn't give another reason for keeping you away from the planning " my wolf part replies

I walk to the woods and carefully take off my clothes, safe guarding them in the tree. I definitely wasn't ready to walk naked to the mall. I let my wolf part take control rather aggressively. I need to let out all the bottled anger.

I sprint from one region of the woods to another with a vehemence I have never felt. I jump over some trees. I repeat the process for some more hours and I felt better.

Exhausted and thirsty, I change back to my human form and rush to the mall to get some food

I get to the mall, quickly went to the section I wanted, picked up a double pizza and a dozen of smoothies, different flavor.

I notice the surprise on the salesman's face as I approach him

"It's for a party," I lied

I set out to leave and the Mayfair news pop up.

TROOPS INVADE THE WOODS IN SEARCH OF WEREWOLVES

I stand there, feeling a surge of anger from the feet upward.

The humans should have died a long time ago. They don't deserve to live.

I freeze getting angrier yet trying to control myself, if I make any rash decision here I'll absolutely regret it and humans aren't worth it after all

"You're in the way young man" a voice speaks behind me

I take a deep breath

"I'm sorry" I say, stepping out of the way. I open the door for the lady faking a smile

I take the bus till the end of the road leading to the pack. It's the perfect time for my wolf part to remind me of Alvia

"She is perfect for you, don't ruin it. I've been lonely for too long a time" my wolf part says

"Ugh please, I don't need her to be perfect. I just want a mate since it's annoyingly necessary" I reply him

"You're unbelievable. Don't let her go. That's the core" he replies in anger

I stop at the bus stop and I make it for the woods. When the bus went out of sight, I transform into my wolf and run back to the pack

"Where the hell have you been?" Japhta questions me furrowing his brows

"Busy" I say as a run uphill
