Craig -
Hi, just say hi, that's not the gay way to say it right? Wait, no. "What's up? Um, bro, dog." I said excitedly. Ha cool, I sound so straight right now. My mom looked at me with a confused look. She knows damn well I usually don't try to act like a straight boy.
Ray snickered. "Sup dog." I gave a quick, hesitant laugh before looking down at my black church shoes, realizing that I just made a big goof of myself in front of a majorly attractive guy.
Shit, what was I thinking? I'm gay and Ray looks straight, overly straight. Like one hundred percent straight. Dammit, God was it you that made me this way? Or was it me? I certainly didn't choose to be this way.
"Well sister Crippen, my son Ray and I are having a little get together down at the house." The Rev began, "Oh no rev, sorry we hav-" My mom started to say but was soon cut off by Rev Smith. "-A FEW people I'm inviting from the church are coming, and a few of Rays little brotherins and sisters from school are coming too."
He smiled at his son. "You both should come too. It'd be really nice. Don't worry, I won't be preaching or anything!" The Rev busted out into a corny laughter waiting to be joined with laughter by me and them. Ray smiled at me then up at his dad.
I looked up at my mom whose face was wiped with excitement and worry. I knew my mom wanted to go to the Revs house so bad for this get-together. I felt bad, I let my own sexuality take away my mom's life of enjoyment. Even though I didn't want to deal with the Rev making gay slurs toward me and trying to change me, I do want to find out a little more about Ray.
I know what I'm getting myself into, which is stupid, and I know damn well Ray was probably anti-gay, but there's nothing wrong with trying to be friends with a straight guy when you're gay, right? Right!
My mom sighed, "Well Rev, we're going to have to pass this-"
"NO!" I yelled. My mom looked at me confused, followed by the Rev and Ray. "I mean, we'll go."
"Uh Craig, Are you sure?"
"Yeah mom, I think it's time for us to get out of the house a bit," I said giving a weak smile. She looked completely shocked but happy inside. The rev smiled. "Well, we'll see y'all in three hours. You already know where the house is right?"
"Yeah. Next Door." I said rolling my eyes, walking away.
Later at the Revs house...
While my mom sat in the living room, talking to a few members of the churches choir I roamed outside in the backyard where most of the teens were. They all were either sophisticated kids who were full of themselves or so-called, "Rich".
Ray goes to one of the finest schools; Peter Vanguard High school, while on the other hand, I go to one of the local 3A high schools. Jeff Davis High School.
I watched a bunch of girls' crowd around Ray while he talked to two boys in Plaid sweaters and bow ties. What a bunch of show-offs. I sat down in a red and white striped lawn chair and closed my eyes. Two girls were standing next to me talking about stupid s**t that was cool to them, but retarded and lame to me.
"Oh, my gosh Kendra. I can't wait for the theatre club!" Jasmine said as she brushed off her sundress. Kendra fixed her toms on her feet then smiled, "I know right. I can't freaking wait!"
"Yeah..." Jasmine finished as she looked over at Ray then back at Kendra. "Wait don't tell me you still have a crush on Ray." I quickly opened my eyes a little, they were talking about Ray and that sparks my interest.
"Of course, not Kendra!"
"Yeah right Jas, you know you couldn't get with him even if you tried again, for what? The 20th time? He's a total avoid."
What's that supposed to mean? I know she's pretty ugly, but don't straight men chase any woman they can find? "I know, but he's so cute," Jasmine gawked. "Oh, s**t here he comes." She squealed, setting her red beverage on the lawn table right by me. What a b***h. I rolled my eyes, sinking more into the chair.
"How's my hair? How's my face? Any burger particles?" Jasmine whispered loudly. Your hairs' a jungle, your face looks like a rat's ass and you have some mustard on the corner of your crusty lip.
"No, no, you're fine," Kendra said giggling a bit. I slowly closed my eyes again only to be opened again by Ray's presence.
"Umm Craig?" Ray said sitting on the edge of the lawn chair. I quickly sat up. Ray totally ignored the two girls whose ego slowly diminished as he came to talk to me and not them. "Ugh fine, whatever didn't want Ray anyways," Jasmine said walking away with Kendra. I smirked a bit.
"Yeah what's up bro?" I said softly. Can I not make a fool out of myself, please? "Can you come with me to get a football from my room?" Ray asked with a little smirk on his face but I didn't think he meant anything by it.
"Sure, I'd love to." Sure, I'd love to? I'm so f*****g stupid, that it totally the gay way to say yes to something. I should have said no, a straight guy would say no. "Haha, alright, let's go, I'll lead the way."
I roamed around in Rays room while Ray rummaged through his closest trying to find a football for him and his colleagues to play with. I looked around and saw a bunch of track and football trophies. Dude was talented, well there goes another sign of straightness. Ugh, I should just give up.
"Found it!" Ray said reappearing from the closest with a brown, old, football.
"Yay.." I said nervously then started for the door. Yay? Are you serious, who gets excited over a found football? Apparently, I do. "Wait!" Ray began. I stopped, still facing the door.
"Are you okay bro? You seem kind of tense like you don't want to be here." I gulped, he was right, I don't want to be here. I only came here to see if Ray was gay. What a big dumb fool I am, of course, he's not.
"I'm just not feeling well bro." Can I stop saying bro for like two seconds, please? Ray slowly sat the football down on his bed then started to walk up behind me then snickered.
"Umm, you can kind of stop with the trying to be straight act."
"Wait, what did you say?" He knows? How did I give it away? Did I say bro way too much or?
I then slowly turned around only to be met with Rays lips on mine. Rays lips pondered on mine as he tightened his arms around my waist. My eyes widen. I was not expecting this when coming up the stairs to Rays room. I mean I fantasize a little bit, but never in a million years did I think my lips would be connected to the reverend's sons' lips. He interlaced his fingers with mine and pulled me towards his bed and I crawled up onto him, deepening the kiss. His fingers trailed down to the bottom of my shirt and began lifting it. Is this really going to happen? Are we really going to you know...do it? Wow my first time and with a church boy.
But sadly, this blissful moment was cut short by a familiar voice. "Ray ma boy! You up here? I got a surprise!" The Rev said as he turned on the doorknob to open Rays bedroom door. "Ray the door is stuck," He fumbled with it more trying to get in.
Fuck, f**k, f**k.
Ray was breathing heavily and looked at me worried. We both had a problem in our pants and had no time to make it go down. "Rayan, open this door right now!"
This is shocking as hell. This is what I've been waiting for all my life, but it's the f*****g preacher's son for god sake! Why man why, bringing me someone who's so perfect and make it the most difficult person to be with?
The Rev then busted into the room and looked at Ray and then at me. "Rayan..."
Oh no.
