House of Music started off as a vaudeville music hall before becoming a movie house and, most recently, a place for live music, fancy dress, and cocktails.

Can’t wait.To reach the House of Music, I splurge on another cab ride. It’s just past nine o’clock when I step onto the curb before the building itself. Moonlight reflects off the sidewalk, making the concrete glisten like diamonds. Before me stands a three-story building with green facade that’s carved with great arches. A golden marquee covers the entrance. Above it, House of Music is written in swirly black letters.
Men in tuxedos and ladies in formal gowns step through the entrance. As I follow them inside, I catch my own reflection in the glass doors. My brown hair hangs in loose curls over
