Back in the city for the bright day, the four girls and Logan walked alongside a purplish tiled wall with running water of each cool color. The very sight rested the girls' hearts.
"Logan, you muuust take it seriously. I'm serious," said Vanessa squinting her eyes at him.
Logan pouted through his lecture. How was Vanessa gonna do this? Like, what the hell? After everything the boy has done for her, she really gonna put him to there in front of everybody.
Unbeknownst to him, Kiki was already ordering a clip of his embarrassment for Ms. Katz to see. He tried focusing on adjusting his light armor. Given he was going in with Vanessa, there was no telling on what they would have to fight. One could guess it would be physically powerful though.
But could Vanessa stop lecturing him? Not even Logan's mother spoke to him like this. That woman paid the bills, took care of the house, and never held a conversation with Logan. Maybe his joy in Vanessa had to do with her motherly nature to care for others. It's not like Logan held any motherly figures in his life. Aside from one at least.
His dread had to of been the talk of the studio. It was so funny how he allowed Vanessa to talk towards him. Even Faith, who saw from on top of the wall, became curious of who exactly this girl was to him.

At the end of the wall were two buildings with a small billboard on the left one. Being it was the destination of their mission, the two read to see what was being reported. A weird being, covered in armor was badly drawn. There were spikes on the tips of the armor. Not a single piece of skin was shown. Just armor with eye slits.
"Damn, so one of these," said Logan with his arms crossed, "Good thing I came prepared to hit hard".
"Yes, buuut, you need to take it seriously too," said Vanessa following him into the alleyway between the two buildings.
It was a show for sure. An entire sector of the town was closed off for the two. People nearby watched on giant screens that appeared over the walls and buildings.
Noticing they were being broadcasted, Logan stated how they are being asked to put on a show. Vanessa was a little confused at first. He pointed out an air balloon advertising their battle. Sometimes the game will bring everybody in for a show when they are anticipating a good battle.
"Wow, is nice".
"This is life, Vanessa. Crowds of people watching down for you to win a battle against a fearsome foe. That sweat between your toes comes from mother excitement herself".
"No no," said Vanessa shaking her head, "Don't talk about my toes. And not my sweat. Is embarrassing".
"Anyway, it's nice being here with you".
"Ah, yes. It is. And we will win," she smiled with two fingers up.
It was that same smile that excited Logan. He knew with that smile next to him, he could become a professional isekai player.
They looked away from one another. One could feel the wind blow 15-meters when Vanessa drew her katana. Logan pulled a blue medium-sized manganese blade from his back. There was no flash. Just a stretch of his shoulders, flexing the small shield on his left forearm.
Players cheered for their success. Those cannons heard bursting was the people begging for a show. That burning carbon smell fueled their blood with a rage that could start the next pandemic.
Rumbling from various buildings only excited their rush. Sounds of blades spinning seemed pretty bad. It was just one either. It was multiple.
Logan was still pumped to get this thing going. He was always a fan of putting on a show. It was his trademark since he started. God the thrill he had back in the day of getting jumped in-game. It was even funnier when he used to meet those same people out in the Isekai Studio Parking Lot to duke it all out.
Vanessa on the other hand felt the shake and shift in mood.
"s**t".
He heard that. Logan's smile dimmed away knowing his magical girl Vanessa was not so confident. Her grin remained belligerently strong which only revealed how scared she was.
"Vanessa... You fought the angel of death last month. Let's keep it together".
"Right..." answered Vanessa now a bit more calmer.
But damn those blades were spinning. The very sound alluded towards the thought of having her intestines grated like ground beef. Ugh, it was gross.
"Whatever, it shouldn't be that bad," she thought looking at a two big clunks of metal fly over a building.
They landed by a building. Large, white, metal shoe thingies they were. Metal silver poles stuck out of each one. Two large matching claws shot towards the shoes. Full arms extended, connecting to the poles from the feet.
This thing was already roughly 20-feet. The spin of its arms and shaking in from its body was already looking rough.
"Ah. Mmm. Yeah. Nope. Magic girl Vanessa is out. Logan, better luck next time," said Vanessa.
"This is a DPS race. We have to keep hitting that thing as hard as possible while avoiding its attack. We have to be careful. If you ever see it glowing, run and take cover behind a smaller building".
Lastly, a giant metal head flew at the managing thing. It popped to the top of the body. A torso extended from the head. What was large chunks of white metal before was now a weird spiky armor. The slits for eyes glowed red, staring at the two.
"Vanessa, remember, this is just a DPS race. We got this".
"Right," she said staring at the weird thing.
People cheered in regardless for the fight. After all, Logan was a legend and Vanessa was deemed by many to be of the same level.
Now fully assembled and ready for the match, the armor flew towards Logan and Vanessa.
