The Witch Again

"Whaaaat?" yelled Vanessa as Jaivva opened a secret passage under the main stairway in the city. "Since when can you do that?" she asked. "Ever since Logan came out of his depression episode. Like when I started he was all about the hustle. But since December, he's been strictly on it," answered Jaivva. "Nice," said Vanessa, looking into the wall. Jaivva took a step forward to a light on the far wall. It was a measly lantern that barely lit the stone stairs next to it. Kinda odd that there would be a hidden stone staircase under a main public staircase. However, it was all the more reason to investigate. What do you know that by stepping in and the walls closing that there would be a stench of death. The two threw their hands claiming to quit due to the smell. Their nostrils needed a break from all the bad smells. Even during Vanessa's mission with Logan he reminded her of her feet. Why the hell were they still walking to the stairs was beyond them. A thin red laser appeared across the floor. It came towards them at a slow pace. "There's another one," said Jaivva after noticing a darker red laser moving quicker. These lasers appeared rather simple. Both girls hopscotched through without hitting any of the lasers coming until they reached the stairs. That stench was stronger now. Over the stairs was a pit of dead bodies. Had to of been thrown given the way they were tangled into each other. Vanessa and Jaivva stepped onto the second floor where there were stone crows lined on the far wall. They didn't hesitate to run across before anything came at them. A bird shot into Vanessa like a missile. She smacked to the ground whereas Jaivva dodged a second bird. "Ow," said Vanessa getting back to her feet. "Stay behind me and do what I do," said Jaivva watching the crow statues. She led Vanessa on a trot toward the wall. It took maybe a few seconds before Jaivva jumped to the right. Vanessa followed, dodging a speeding crow. She heard it slam to the ground and bounce away like a miniature dodgeball shot fro- Jaivva jumped to the left, canceling any thought. "Stay focused Vanessa". Vanessa charged her blade and released fire disk to counter the next crow. It came right through as though her attack didn't exist. That bird smacked her head back. The fall was hilarious. Jaivva was laughing from the stairs. "Ah, you're already up there," said Vanessa. "I told you to do as I did". "M-magical girl Vanessa is having a rough day. M- and- M- yeah". Another bird was fixing to shoot at her again. Instead of getting up and dodging, Vanessa lowered her head into her arms. The bird struck her arm, "Ow"! She low crawled to the stairs, taking a few hits along the way. She even low crawled making the turn onto the stairs. A bird shot her butt and bounced up. "Ow!" laughed Vanessa jumping to safety, "It shot my butt". "I would too. Get a good aim at it too". Vanessa sat on the steps for a few minutes before continuing. They took it easy coming to the next floor. Oddly enough, the floor appeared easy. It was just a wall. Light shined from the next floor above, but it was dim. Vanessa chanted a spell with her hand on the ground. Fire rose, lighting the entire floor, but nothing was there. No matter how much they observed, nothing was found. They were slowly making their way to the staircase when two shadow-like ninjas ran in front of them. Both girls dodged, but when they countered the ninjas vanished. "Eh," said Vanessa, "Maybe we should just ru-". A ninja slashed its sword at her head. Jaivva countered, but her sword slipped through it. Vanessa ducked under by a hair just in time to see another attack Jaivva. Jaivva managed to get past the ninja flawlessly without a sweat. At this moment they decided to sprint to the stairs. Two ninjas came attacking their midriff. Both girls slid clear under their strikes. They made it to the stairs safely noting that this entire theme appears to be dodging. "Yeah, I'm not about this life," said Jaivva listening to the slithers of the next floor. "Mmmm, snakes are cool but scary," said Vanessa as they slowly stepped up to the fourth floor. Jaivva took a peak, witnessing a statue of a n***d woman with living pythons as her hair. "Oh we have to get past Medusa," said Jaivva. Vanessa's voice started high and gradually went down, "Ah, yes! She will turn us to stone". Jaivva held up her two assassin blades along with Vanessa who held up her katana. They were ready. They took a deep breath. This was some bullshit. They ran out in hopes to reach the stairs. A snake snapped at Vanessa. She simultaneously jumped back and shot out a fire disk. The damn thing wasn't affected. Likewise, Jaivva slashed at a snake a few times to find that they were resistant to physical attacks. Both managed to avoid getting bitten, making their way forward. Each snake that bit would draw back, allowing another to take a bite. They were entangled in one another, working as one to attack repetitively. Halfway through, Vanessa realized that Medusa's eyes were half-open. "Crap, crap, crap, crap," they sang jumping over each snake. One tipped over Vanessa causing a few to strike. She jumped away, nearly making it to the stairs. But they were now in Jaivva's way. Vanessa took a final leap before shooting fire discs at the snakes. It didn't help much. She hoped it would deter them from attacking Jaivva. Shining came from Medusa's eyes. Jaivva's hymn of worry grew louder as she began rushing across the snapping snakes. She combat rolled in a final jump to the stairs. Medusa's gaze struck the room, completely missing the girls. "Ugh, no more," said Jaivva looking up at the flat ceiling. Sure it was their last floor. But they didn't feel like dodging again. Why in hell were their feet walking up this final staircase was beyond their reason. This fifth floor better be nice or else they just might quit. "Oooh, we have two pretty ladies today," laughed an old witch. Her voice reminded Vanessa of the witch she fought in October. After reaching the floor, Vanessa saw that she looked similar to that old witch. This one smiled over a boiling pot. She was nasty and clammy. Jaivva couldn't believe this is who waited for them at the top of the staircase. What was this old lady suppose to do? Jaivva ran up to the old hag. The witch flicked a finger to summon a rising storm of ice that halted Jaivva. Vanessa countered with a fire disc that cut right through it. The heat burned a bit, but at least they were still able to push forward. "Oooh, the two of you will make great sacrifices". A fire dragon flew at the witch. She countered with a water dragon and sent another to attack the girls. Jaivva weaved a few hand seals to send a number of red lightning birds to counter the dragon. It was destroyed, but the lightning enhanced water fell in their was. They gained what distance was possible as the witch shot out lightning balls. Vanessa shot out multiple wind discs using her sword. Each one slammed into the lightning balls and exploded on impact. Jaivva ignored the burst of lightning over her head to get close to the water. She formed a few hand signs to summon a dragon from the lightning enhanced water on the ground. The dragon stayed low for its attack. When near, the witch destroyed it with an earth wall that collapsed right after. The witch's face was welcomed with a full wind disc slamming her face. The witch flew back onto the table. Jaivva jumped a kick into her jaw. She flipped out a blade and stabbed the witch in her shoulder. Vanessa came dragging the witch onto the alter. It seemed simple. There were blades sticking out of the table for each limb. They grabbed the witch by her arms and slammed each down into a blade. The witch begged them to stop. But they were already slamming her feet down as well. "Now what?" asked Vanessa. "I'm not a witch," answered Jaivva. Vanessa picked up a spoon and threw some of whatever the witch had in that boiling pot on her. Smoke rose from the witch's body. "Please stop," begged the witch. "Throw more," said Jaivva enjoying the with's pain. Vanessa threw large scoops of the potion on the old hag, burning her down to the bones. It worked like acid. No blood was ever seen. In fact, the witch continued to struggle and shake as she was slowly being burned alive. Once she was dead. A light flew off the table. It bestowed the girls a special transformation upon them. Their face didn't reflect the internal excitement. "Ight, we're done for the weekend," said Jaivva. "Yes. Aaand now I will take a shower because I smell". Their goggles loosened. Everything was dark with very small lights on the floor leading to an exit. Walking down, Jaivva asked what she will be doing next weekend. "You should be with Dani". "Oh God," laughed Jaivva, "I guess it should be interesting then. I'll try to get my limit break with her sooner".
