The torso had fallen. Smoke rose from its metal clunks. Cheers were heard from over the building. Vanessa looked up into the sky at the fireworks going off. The burning air was as sweet as perfume.
A light rose from the burnt armor and bestowed upon them melee synergy. It was confusing at first when Vanessa read she will obtain melee synergy with Logan. In her heart, it didn't matter.
Her eyes dropped over to Logan as she smiled at him, "Hey Logan. Congratulations. We wo-".
"What the hell was that?" she shouted.
The bass in his voice hushed her lips. That stern look at her was one looking to kill her. Wherever that scrawny grey-haired boy was that she loved so much wasn't present at the time.
"Excuse me, ar you gonna answer?" he yelled.
Vanessa stood quiet questioning where this fear came from.
"So you can't talk now?" he asked, "Next damn time I say 'run' you better haul a*s and get movin. That back there nearly got us both killed"!
The rolling air in his throat vibrated Vanessa's chest. The very image she had of ever beating him was shattered to one of him standing a foot above her.
"Answer me, woman"!
"Oki," she mumbled underneath her breath.
"That's not gonna cut it!" he continued, "Facts, you can sit in your room and study all you want. But if you come out here doing dumb s**t like then it's a waste! Don't think you'll make it to the pro leagues like that! Do you understand me"!
Vanessa nodded her head. The sector already opened back up for everybody to come in. Kiki, Mimi, and Jaivva were already running over.
"Other than that, good work. Be sure to get your limit breaks with everybody including Kiki. You will need it".
"Oki," she said looking down.
"Logan! where are you going," asked Jaivva as he walked away, "Don't you want to get limit breaks with Kiki and Mimi"?
"I have important things to handles and an arm to heal," said Logan, "I'll hang out with yall some other time. I will mostly be busy this month".
"What's wrong Vanessa?" asked Mimi.
"I made him very mad and I don't know," pouted Vanessa.
Kiki gave Vanessa a hug, "Awe, don't worry. He's an asshole. Let's go get our limit breaks".
"Why doesn't he want to work with yall so badly?" asked Jaivva.
"Cuz he's an asshole," laughed Kiki, "Besides, me and him already have our limit break".
Everybody was shocked. It was when Kiki teased that Jaivva and Vanessa may be joining them for the spring event that their attention diverted. Jaivva couldn't help but pester Kiki on what was the spring event.
Kiki gave a quick rundown that The Isekai Spring Event was a special event that pinned pros against amateurs. These events pin pro players in a situation where the amateurs have the upper hand, forcing them to give it their all. Given how competitive the industry is, they only bring in amateur players who are strong and 18+ years old.
It was interesting Logan never said anything about this. Then again he was upset that his birthday came after the event. Or maybe it was all due to being busy this month. Which raised another question for the girls. What all was he busy doing? Recruiting alone couldn't possibly be taking up all his time.

"This is all Kiki," said Mimi, "Always dragging everybody into some spooky crap".
"You like spooky crap," said Kiki.
"True. It's not even me going in there. It's Vanessa".
"Meee? Nooo," said Vanessa staring at Kiki.
She face-planted herself before asking why. Kiki insisted she would be fine. But nobody wanted to go with her inside an abandoned factory to get a limit break. It was seriously the most raggedy building that nobody knew existed.
It probably didn't even belong in this theme. It was nasty and molded. It smelled like an old sausage factory that blew up or something. Vanessa's head shook side to side, wondering what is Kiki dragging her into.
Regardless, Mimi and Jaivva wished them good luck in getting their limit break.

Vanessa and Kiki were now in the factory. For the love of God, it needed to be cleaned. There were dust and cobwebs everywhere. The place was trashed. A small security sign pointed to a door.
The two girls walked inside the security room. A dead guard sat in the chair. His throat was eaten out. No weapons were around. Kiki rolled him out of the room after checking if he was alive.
More than twenty small monitors were on the wall. Each showing a different part of the building. Everywhere was just as destroyed as when they walked in. It got weirder when a giant humanoid pig walked into one of the rooms.
Kiki and Vanessa knew it was an enemy. But what was its motive? All it did was look around aimlessly for something. It took a minute, but they realized there were more than one of these pigs looking around the place. At least 10 stormed through offices and hallways.
Tiny blinking numbers on the monitor appeared to be random. After piecing together the areas being viewed they figured out which ones were indicating which floors. Still, nothing made sense. So what if there were giant pig-like men walking around. What did it mean for them?
Vanessa would peak out of the room to see if anything was coming. Kiki on the other hand kept her eyes locked to each monitor, looking for their objective.
"Vanessa, they're not looking for us," she said.
Shocked as ever, Vanessa had to ask what were they looking for. Kiki pointed out how the creatures sniffed through each area. They were likely bling given how small their eyes were and for the fact, they were sniffing in obvious spots.
The grueling process left Kiki huffing every couple of seconds. Vanessa could only imagine what was going through Kiki's mind. Every time she tried suggesting going out and looking for clues towards the objective, Kiki would shut her down.
"Girl, how has Logan not killed you already?" asked Kiki, "Calm down. We got this".
A faint image moved in the dark on a monitor. It deserved a closer inspection. Kiki placed a finger on the monitor and called the command, "Sight". Her eyes glowed green. But not a sexy nor kawaii kind. It was notably gross. Something that could make puke. Vanessa thought it was pretty cool.
Given the sight, Kiki was able to see a little girl hiding under a broken desk. The girl was frail and scared. Surely this must be what the pigs are after. And judging by the numbers on the monitors, they were not far away.
Kiki relayed her findings and devised a plan. A simple plan, yet effective. It started by kicking Vanessa out of the room and locking the door. Vanessa didn't like this plan. She pleaded for Kiki to come with her.
Kiki spoke on the intercom, "I will direct you to the target. Remain calm and stay low. Don't let these pigs hear nor see you. First, you need to go up three floors using the ladder well to your left".
Sure enough, there was a ladder well to Vanessa's left. It sucked, but Kiki appeared to know what she was doing. Placing her faith into her little goth friend, Vanessa ran up the stairs to save the little creepy girl.
