CHAPTER 33 | Parker –––––––– * * * * Even with my little chat with Ellie, I still make it back to Aiden’s inside of an hour. Showered and in fresh clothes, I hoof it up the tack room stairs and into the kitchen in time for pancakes. Aiden slides me a full plate without a word and eats his over the sink. Regret nearly sucks away my breath. I wasn’t fair to him. I might be a disaster, but he’s always been lovely, has always made me feel like I’m more than I am. I push bits of pancake around on my plate and think how I should say that to him. But I can’t figure out how without making this worse. Can it get worse? I wonder, hearing the twins finishing up in the bathroom and knowing I have roughly one more minute to make this right. I open my mouth, close it, open it again, and— Bam! One
