Ciar watched the four humans step out of the car. They were pale and thin, and one of the women had a distant look in her eyes. The man looked a lot like Romeo, and he could see similarities in the women too—not the one with the distant gaze.
“Mamma.” Romeo hurried toward the older woman, and Ciar scanned the surroundings. No one was watching as far as he could tell.
As Romeo hugged the woman, the air shimmered next to them, and both Thano and Emeric appeared. The humans jumped—not Romeo. He only smiled.
“This is Thano and Emeric.” He gestured at them one at a time. “And this is Lorenzo, my brother, his wife Alice, my sister Teresa, and my mother, Maria.”
“Oh.” Maria reached for Emeric but stopped herself. “Hello again.”
