CHAPTER 2

Soon it was going to be night, and then morning and the bad man (Ade) will be back to my room. Tear poured down. I wanted to hide but there was nothing I could do. Darkness was caging me in when suddenly my inner voice started talking to me. “You are intelligent and courageous. Trust in yourself. You are strong than you know.” Suddenly, the voice vanished and I felt a new energy in my heart. I wiped my tears and laid out a plan. I thought of trying to insist them to tell me why am here and where I am. It’s now a week still here in this room, still in darkness. I had started accepting that this is how I will be living. I walked out of my room and on the corridor found Ade taking a breeze. Walked away from him and after a few steps Ade called on me by my name “Maryanne,” he uttered.                                 This was the first time I was called by my name since the first day I was brought in this house. I didn’t respond and assumed his call. “Maryanne! I am calling you and you dare assume me,” I started panting and sweating, soon panic took over me as I moved towards him shivering. He stared at me for a while and then he ordered. “Just sit down please.” I was shocked to see him like this yet he has been treating me bad. I unbound my wavy hair and swayed it back and forth and then moved and sat down. “Do you know what, you are here because your father wants you here?” He said. “So, my dad is the one who has planned my kidnap?” I asked angrily. I became angry. No. I became furious. What does my father wants from me. I hate him. I saw that this is my day to know why I am held in this place. Life here is miserable there is no time of moving out of this place. I stood and ran back to my room. I didn’t want to hear anything else from Ade. Ade followed me to my room trying to explain more of what it takes me to be here. “You father is a good person, he has raised me and Bravo in this house since our parents died, your being here it’s a help to you and your generation.” He said to me. “Who is Bravo?” I asked. “Bravo is my brother,” he answered. I thought, “Bravo could be the other good man.” It took me a while to digest what Ade had just told me. So my dad is more than good than I thought. “And, why did you hit me with your car?” I asked. “That was not our plan; it was just like any other accident.” He answered.  (After a few minutes of silence). “Today Bravo is going to take you to a place that your dad ordered us to.” He said politely. “What?” I hissed. “Get dressed well and we will be waiting you in the car.” He said. Ade walked away and I was left alone in my room. I anxiously got off the couch and moved towards the closet in my room. I took a two minutes shower then I picked a silk evening gown from the closet. I looked myself in the mirror and saw how the gown hugged my thin figure tightly. My skin became paler than usual. I inhaled deeply as I was about to move out of my room. After minutes of deliberations inside my head and convincing myself that I had no choice rather than to follow what Ade had told me to do. I gave my hair some quick flicks of the brush and let them fall carelessly over my shoulders before taking a move from my room. The main door was already open. I sighed deeply and stepped outside. It felt surreal like I was trapped in a cage and finally tasting the fresh air. I was the front yard which I had seen its picture in my father’s office. It was green, beautiful and picturesque. Ade and Bravo were sitting in their luxuriously expensive black car and waiting for me. They had the car door opened for me. I walked to the car and got inside and seated myself in the smooth leather seat. Bravo waited till I was comfortable and had my seatbelt on, and then started the car. The air inside was loaded with strong smell of a cologne. I furtively looked at them. They were dressed in blue wearing, trouser and blazer. After an hour drive we finally arrived at the place we were heading. I was ready. I zoomed out onto the surface only glancing back at once. I looked around. No one is here. The place looked oldie and familiar. I remembered that I was given the photo of the old house by my father in my birthday a few years back. The day that I can’t remember anything. “Hey Maryanne let’s move this way,” Bravo said. “This building holds a lot of memories since your father took us as his children.” Ade added. We spent some time in the building compound which looked weird since there was no one else. The building was in a bushy area where no one could even dream of living in the place. I had an idea of getting into the house and know what is in there but Bravo stopped me from doing so. “We should be getting back home now, it is already late,” Ade said curiously. We left the scarely place, I stared at the views outside. It was horror, plain horror being in that weird place. The sun had gone done and it was getting dark. I rubbed my hands together to warm them up a bit as it was really chilly. I looked at Bravo and Ade and the cold didn’t bother them. I wasn’t content and something moved inside me, and the voice inside me screamed, “Confront them what they took you to do in that weird place.” I took a pause and then asked politely, “What was the motive of getting to that place yet there was nothing that we did there?” They didn’t respond to me.                      I started again with a heavy defiance in my voice, “am I just a wood or a stone right?” They growled together, “Don’t dare tease us you small beach.” Ade’s breath was heavy and I could hear his heartbeat. “Don’t you dare talk like that,” he said angrily. I shuddered with fear as Ade’s murderous words sent a shiver down my spine. I would have continued my small rebellion against them, but they looked like they are truly meant to threat me. I realized that I had pissed them off badly by trying to tease them. So I decided I will keep my mouth shut till we reached to their place.
