Chapter 21: The Fading Star

The Star Chamber was quiet after the celebration. Only the soft glow of the Hidden Key lit the room. Above it, the magical map of stars floated in the air, shining like a piece of the night sky.
But one star was different.
It flickered weakly, its light fading little by little.
Amara stared at it with concern.
“That star is still fading,” she said quietly.
Kael stepped closer to the glowing map.
“Yes,” he replied. “And the Hidden Key is reacting to it.”
The key pulsed gently, sending small waves of silver light across the chamber.
The King walked slowly around the pedestal, studying the star.
“That world is called Solara,” he explained. “It is a land filled with bright forests and rivers of light. If its star fades, it means something dangerous is happening there.”
Lumo crossed his arms nervously.
“Let me guess… we’re going there, right?”
Amara smiled slightly.
“Of course we are.”
The king nodded.
“You are the only ones the Hidden Key has chosen. It responds to your courage and unity.”
Kael looked up at the star.
“If Solara is in danger, we can’t ignore it.”
The Hidden Key suddenly glowed brighter. A beam of light shot upward and touched the fading star on the map. Instantly, a glowing path formed between the kingdom and the distant world.
Amara gasped.
“It’s showing us the way!”
The king pointed toward a tall doorway at the far end of the chamber.
“The Star Gate lies beyond that door. It allows travelers to move between worlds when guided by the Hidden Key.”
Lumo’s eyes widened.
“Wait… we’re traveling through space now?”
Kael laughed softly.
“Looks like it.”
They walked toward the Star Gate. The massive doorway was covered in ancient symbols that looked like tiny constellations.
Kael raised the Hidden Key.
As soon as the key faced the gate, the symbols began to glow. The door slowly opened, revealing a swirling tunnel of silver light.
Wind rushed through the chamber as the portal activated.
Amara felt both excited and nervous.
“So that leads to Solara?”
The king nodded.
“Yes. But remember—every world has its own challenges. Be careful.”
Lumo looked at the swirling portal.
“Well… no frozen mountains, I hope.”
Amara laughed.
“No promises.”
Kael stepped forward first, holding the glowing key.
“Ready?”
Amara nodded confidently.
“Ready.”
Lumo took a deep breath.
“Alright… let’s save another world.”
Together, the three friends stepped into the glowing Star Gate.
The portal closed behind them, leaving the Star Chamber silent once again.
Far away, in the distant world of Solara, the fading star flickered weakly in the sky.
