Two weeks has gone by since Heather and Jade, moved into Logan's home and it was safe to say Jade, has her first crush.
Logan, made sure Heather's and James path didn't cross, he didn't know the Genesis, of their relationship but he knew that the chief upsets Heather, and as a good host that he was, he's bent on making sure they're comfortable.
Pushing up the bars when he heard the pitter patter of feet's, Logan hung the bars and turned to the door of his gym, Jade stood there a small smile on her face.
“Morning Logy”. Hearing the pet name she had developed for him, he smiled walking towards her.
He held out his hand and she took it, both walking towards the open kitchen facing the dining room. It wasn't abnormal that Jade, was up before her mother, and for some time now this has been hers and Logan's routine.
Logan, woke up extra early to hit the gym in peace but Jade, would interrupt at almost thirty minutes later and the two of them would go to the downstairs bathroom brush their teeth with the spare brush— Logan had kept there—, then to the kitchen make creamy hot chocolate and sip it on the terrace of the infinity pool overlooking the valley and watching the sunrise talking about the silliest things.
It was a little tradition they had made between the two of them, and Logan, would bet his yacht that Heather, was well aware of what her daughter does— cause after their morning hot chocolate they always find her in the kitchen making breakfast or doing some cleaning.
“How was your night munchkin?”. Logan, asked once they had successfully made the hot chocolate and was opening the kitchen door to the pool.
“It was fine, but I'm thinking of getting my own room you know”. Jade, answered with a shrug of her little shoulders.
His nephews needed to meet her. He thought to himself with a smile.
But her last words finally sunk in. “Dont you like sharing a room with Mommy?”.
“I do. But I think I'm disturbing her and a girl needs her space”. Logan, almost spat out his chocolate as he stifled a laugh.
He definitely has his hands filled with this sassy one. “How about you ask your mommy if you could have your own room then we'll work something out”.
Her golden brown eyes lit up and a beautiful smile took residence on her lips, as she launched herself at him wrapping her tiny hands against his neck. It took Logan by surprise but he wrapped his free hand around her, giving her temple a kiss.
She drew back and sat next to him, picking up her mug and taking a sip, her smile still in place, his heart was doing annoying somersaults, like it was the first time he'd received a hug.

Heather's eyes misted as she watched the exchange between her daughter and Logan, like she had done everyday her daughter woke up before her. But today was different, Jade had hugged him like she was hugging Marcus and Logan had done exactly what Marcus, would do—give her a kiss on the temple—, her heart broke.
She backed out slowly from the door not wanting to interrupt their moment tears freely falling from her eyes her heart yearning for her husband, she didn't know if he was dead or alive and here her daughter was probably forgetting she had a father and it's probably her fault for not wanting to talk about it.
Not able to keep the sob in her throat she ran to her room, locking the bathroom door behind her as she let out a gut wrenching sob. How long she sat on the closed toilet crying she didn't know but s tiny knock on the bathroom door and she instantly wiped her eyes pressing the button on the toilet and running the tap washing her face, before opening it too see her little girl with curious eyes.
“Are you okay mommy?”. Heather, nodded forcing a smile on her face.
Jade, didn't look convinced, but she didn't say anything else. “Miss Dolores, said to tell you breakfast is ready”.
“Did you help her with it honey?”. A smile took place on Jade's lips and she nodded proud of herself.
“I'll be down in a bit”. Heather, said and Jade, nodded running away.
Locking the bathroom door she slided against it, running her hand through her braids, deciding that a shower might help her but she didn't like taking a bath before Jade. So she brushed her teeth and made sure she looked presentable and not like she'd been crying for the past twenty minutes.
Exiting the bathroom a notification on her laptop stopped her and she turned back to it opening her Email to find a message with her husband's name as the heading.
It felt like her whole world was spinning and she literally heard her heart shattering to a thousand pieces and she couldn't do anything about it all she could do was stare blankly at the screen as her husband's commander asked to have a chat with her concerning her husband.
He's dead. She said to herself. He's really dead.
