Dejected and penniless after being heartbroken and swindled by her fiancé, who she had believed to be single, Myra found herself in a dire situation. Having been in a relationship with him for two years, she was devastated to discover that he was married and had lied to her about his marital status. Myra, feeling betrayed and lost, realized she had to start over from scratch.

With her heart heavy and her pockets empty, Myra made the tough decision to leave her old life behind and seek new opportunities in the bustling city of New York. She knew that finding a job was her only chance at survival, so she hit the streets, determined to carve out a new path for herself.

As fate would have it, Myra's determination caught the attention of an old friend who was more than willing to help her. This friend, who happened to be connected to the influential Myers family, saw potential in Myra and arranged a meeting with Mrs. Myers, the matriarch of the renowned business dynasty.

The Myers family was known for their unwavering success in the business world, with a vast empire spanning across the United States. Mrs. Myers, impressed by Myra's resilience, offered her a position as the personal assistant to the family's first son, Jamie. Despite her initial reluctance, Myra understood that this opportunity could be her lifeline in the city.

Jamie, the eldest son of the Myers family, was a driven and accomplished individual who had made a name for himself separate from his family's legacy. However, underneath his confident exterior, Jamie carried the weight of a past heartbreak that had left him emotionally guarded. He had sworn off romantic entanglements, choosing to focus solely on his career.

Myra, on the other hand, viewed Jamie as a wealthy and unapproachable figure, seemingly disconnected from the struggles of ordinary people. Despite her reservations, she accepted the job, determined to keep her distance from Jamie and focus on her responsibilities.

Little did they know, their lives were about to intertwine in ways they never expected, setting the stage for a compelling story of two individuals from disparate worlds finding common ground against all odds.

Chapter1
MYRA “I will never forgive you!”, a voice thundered from the room of the apartment. The door opened and a lady walked in, she looked distraught and dumbfounded as if she had witnessed the greatest shock in her entire life. “you are here”, the man asked in utter bewilderment, mouth agape as he tried to conceal the identity of the lady behind him but it was too late now. The heartbroken Myra looked over at the man who had once been her peace, her all and she wished it was all a dream but unfortunately for her, it wasn't. That wasn't the shocking part but the identity of the lady he was trying so hard to shield from her sight. “Keisha? But she's your sister” she said in what sounded like a whisper. The lady sneered and a tiny smirk crawled to the corner of her lip but it disappeared almost immediately that one would think she was mistaken. “You were not supposed to be here”, he said trying to regain his composure. He smiled lightly as he used the back of his palm to wipe the beads of sweat on his forehead.” Baby I think you heard wrong, I promise you it isn't what you think it is maybe your medications are affecting you”, he said reaching for a glass of water on the glass center table. Could she be hearing things? Myra thought to herself, suddenly everywhere grew silent as the only source of sound in the room was the ticking of the clock placed on the table in front of her. She looked from Jess to Keisha and slowly searched their countenance for answers. The tense look on Jess's face and the awkward smile plastered on his face gave him away. She looked at Keisha again and there it was, her nonchalant look and arrogant demeanor exuding from her plus the smirk she had seen earlier but there was something else, Myra couldn’t quite place it. It was the…that bracelet, yes that bracelet she had seen two days before while rummaging through Jess's drawers to find her engagement ring. She remembered bringing out the gift box to see the contents. It was a rose gold bracelet with a handwritten love note written with the finest handwriting she had ever seen. She squealed with joy and excitement thinking it was hers but she carefully placed it back in the drawer so as not to ruin the surprise when Jess would finally decide to give it to her. So when Jess hadn’t given her the bracelet the following morning when she was leaving she was surprised but quickly thought of the possibility that he might have forgotten but now that same bracelet was worn by Keisha?” No”, she shouted jumping out of the haze knocking the glass out of Jess’s hands. She began to weep profusely, pointing to the bracelet,” That bracelet, wasn't it for me? I saw it earlier but now she's wearing it? and you think I'm hearing things? Okay what next I'm seeing things too?”, she said breaking into another round of tears. “Myra baby calm down”, jess said again, this time in a subtle voice” Keisha and I are just siblings so disregard whatever you think okay?”, he said looking into her eyes. “Why are you so defensive all of a sudden?”, she said inching closer. “how did you know I heard something bad?”, she said. She had stopped crying now and her throat was sore. She stood up to him and held him by the wrist,” Tell me, Jess, I want to know, how'd you figure that out huh?”, she screamed not minding the throbbing pain in her throat. Jess had run out of ideas now. He was thinking of what to do when he felt someone yank Myra’s hand off his wrist forcefully, he saw her fall back to the sofa in seconds. “You little wretch!”, Keisha started,” Get your hands off my husband right now or you'll regret it, did you think Jess would love you when you threw yourself at him first?, or did you think you stood a chance?”, she said and snickered. “Oh dear”, she said holding her face in her hands in mock pity,” he said he loved you? That must be the joke of the century”, she said throwing back her head and laughing at Myra. Suddenly she crouched low and came face to face with Myra, her face now a mixed emotions of irritation and deep seething rage” It was all a lie Myra, a ploy to get you into a mental asylum and flee with your properties, but fortunately for you, you wouldn't be going to the mental asylum but as for your properties, you can say bye to them now, they are safe with us”, she said with vicious and malicious intent. By now Myra couldn't believe her ears cause they had to be faulty. Yes…yes, they had to be. She looked at Jess's face and whispered” is she saying the truth?”, he shook his head but didn't utter a word. “I'll ask again Jess, is she speaking the truth?”, he looked away. Though he didn't reply, she got her answers in his eyes already, that fire that used to burn in his eyes for her was no longer there, it was now replaced with a dark emotion, something she couldn't decipher. She felt a pang of pain in her chest and she held her chest tightly as if to suppress it and it was suppressed, but what about that mental pang of pain she felt now, it couldn't be suppressed like the physical one, no it couldn't. It couldn't be suppressed, not now…not ever. Filled with rage she lunged at him and started screaming, scratching him with her nails and sobbing violently. All of a sudden Jess turned to her and pushed her so hard that her elbow was grazed. “why are you so stubborn Myra huh?if you continue to make this hard for us I'd have no choice but to take down with you the hard way too”, he said looking irritated now. “You do still remember those photos you sent to me during your summer holiday in Paris?”, he said with a tiny smirk. “Now if those pictures make their way to the internet Myra girl”, he said leaving her to assume the rest. Myra was dumbfounded. For the two years, she had been with Jess, they hadn’t had s*x yet because she had promised herself to only do it when she felt it right. but she didn’t know that would be her greatest undoing. She had been able to keep herself intact and she was doing okay until last summer when she went to Paris. Jess had been disturbing her for it but she had always made sure she kept him at bay. But last year when she went on a summer trip with her girls they had advised her to spice things up between her and Jess so she decided to buy lingeries and sent him ‘photos’. She remembered the first video she had sent him, she was in a red lingerie that exposed more than it covered. It accentuated her curves and pushed up her perky breasts so that they were a lot more enticing as her erect n*****s fought against the silky material of the lingerie, her white and flawless skin was complimented under the beautiful light and she had on makeup which highlighted her facial features. Her full lips were smeared in hot red Fenty lipstick. It was a thirst trap! She had sent him more after that cause he liked them and complimented her. She was done for! She wanted to scream but no sound came out. “And about the properties, don't worry I got you to sign them on the night I proposed to you,” he said smiling. “Keisha here spiked your drink so you weren't aware you signed them, you wanna see them?”, he asked pulling out a brown envelope from his suitcase placed on the table. He gave them to her. Myra’s head spun as she went through those documents, they weren't fake cause her real signatures were on every one of the papers, with no sign of forgery. “So what would it be?, will you rather I post these videos and photos online?”, he said raising his phone. “or you'll let everything go like a good and obedient girl?”, he said patting her head. “What's it going to be huh?we don't have all the time in the world”, Keisha said impatiently. At this juncture, words failed Myra, her world was shattering before her very eyes but she could do nothing to save it. Suddenly she felt herself falling into darkness, a thick fog of darkness surrounded her. She could tell she was fainting but could do nothing to save herself so she didn't struggle as she kept getting weak and falling into the fog. “let's get out of here quickly before people start asking questions”, Keisha said in a shaky voice. “yes I'll get our bags, you can take these documents and wait by the car, I'll be down in some minutes” Jess replied. Myra saw Keisha walk to the door and slam it shut, that was the last thing she heard before slipping into unconsciousness.
