Prologue
There was a man once who became a powerful magus in the living world. Born with a talent that only appears in a thousand years. All those who knew his name feared and revered him. The more people worship him the greater his greed became.
Until one day, he came across an ancient orb that radiates the purest of light. According to historians, the orb can grant immortality to those who possesses it. The ancient artifact once belonged to a fallen god who roamed all lands in the continent. However, centuries passed the god had vanished leaving his holy orb.
With the orb in the magus hands, his name scattered to all corners until the kings of the human realm knew the existence of the holy artifact and began to covet it.
After all seeking immortality is a man's deepest desire.
Flag of wars had risen in all kingdoms, corpses covered the lands, destroying everything in its wake. Nothing but only deaths and despairs left.
The magus who stood tall among all kings looked down upon them. They had the appearance of a crazed beasts, countless eyes fixed on the orb in his hand.
The magus knew he wasn't much different from them. Consumed by his desire, he had destroyed everything he held dear with his own hands in exchange for the mythical eternal life.
But at the apex of his power the moment of him becoming immortal, something strange happened.
At the final battle, when all of his enemies bowed down in defeat to him. The magus held the orb up high and right in front of all human kind, he unleashed his powers. They all cowered in fear, afraid that the magi had finally gone mad and wanted to kill them all.
However, not even a strand of the magus power had touched them instead the small orb in the magus hand glowed ever more fierce as it suck greedily the released power.
A small c***k appeared in the middle of the pure light then it slowly snaked it's way around the orb.
The orb was broken into two!
It's pure white light escaped, blinding everyone. The people present crouched more, different emotions run through in their hearts. The great magus will finally become immortal and will become akin to a god, only destruction awaits for his enemies. Such despairing thoughts had all passed through both to those who opposed the magus and those who worship him. The latter having gleeful thougts.
However what they did not see was the pure light engulf the figure of the magus almost devouring him. And as the white light vanished so does the magus. Only a robe that he had wore and a blackened orb can be seen where he stood a moment ago.
Body destroyed, the soul of the magus had been taken into a space which the records in the human realm called the abyss and where gods pass judgement on souls with unredeemable sins. Currently, the soul had yet to regain consciousness, being held prisoner by his last memory of his life.
The magus stood alone at the center of worshipping eyes. With victor and a great power in his hands, all kinds of emotions chose to creep up from the deepest of his heart where he buried them. Tired, Regret, guilt, his longings, his passion,... And everything else he had forgotten in pursuit of power. They all overwhelmed him. At that moment, he lost his will. An eternal life could not bring back the life lost of his parents, friends and comrades who had died in support of his greed.
He did not know if it was sanity or insanity that had made up his last resolve to destroy the orb. But he did not regretted it, he was freed from his madness.
"... brother ... had ... returned... to us."
The magus stirred. He heard whispered voices echoing, cutting him from his memory. The whispered voices were overlapping with each other. He furrowed his eyebrows as an unkown force was preventing him from trying to see.
A man who seemed near him as his voice has the most clarity replied."I'm afraid not yet my brother."
"You.. had p..rified... last dark ..tter...why won't... return ..us?"
"Calis is still out there. I cannot return when I know he would try to gather the dark matter all to himself again and use it against the order of the world."
As the name Calis came out from his mouth, memories from centuries ago resurfaced from the gods mind.
Each gods had a role in the god realm, at most it involves the fate of humans. Ignis, the god of light and once a guardian of seven prisons. He purifies the darken souls of human who passed away inside the seven prisons turning them into a pure soul. Pure soul then will be able to enter another cycle of life, all memories and sins washed away inside the prison.
Opposite of Ignis, the god of darkness, Calis. Born inside the seven prisons, he was the manifestation of the dark energies. At first, Calis was one with them but as years passed, he put a distance with his own kind, he began tinkering the seven prisons. Ignis became wary of him and tried to ban him from his domain, it was then the god of darkness bared his power against his own kind. A great battle ensued between light and dark.
Ignis was completely overwhelmed as he had underestimated the much younger god. Calis was able to trap him and would have taken over the seven prisons if the other gods had not arrived on time.
He was no much to the others, so Calis in desperation hurled his most powerful attack, damaging the prison. He then escaped into the human realm.
On that same day, the god of light used his divine core to repair the prison and with his last strength, he cast himself to follow Calis in the human realm. Since then, the gods waited for centuries for the two gods to return in their own realm.
As the magus heard the defeaning silent, he gathered his last remnants of magic of his soul, to stay sane and and be able hear the voices more clearly.
"Ignis!" this time it was a woman's voice. The name she called was the man's name near the magus. "Your power core is no more! The man you brought here had destroyed it, you could no longer stand on par against Calis. Come back to us!"
"Yes, destruction only awaits you at his hand," another voice chimed in. "We will help you create another core!"
"Creating another core, I'm afraid will take a thousand year. Calis is out there within the humans bidding his time. I am thankful for all your care however I must end this before he can rise to power again. And I am with no hope,"
The magus felt eyes staring at him, he had the feeling that the voices knew his conscious was awake.
"This magus is named Yulan, a talent born only in a thousand year. I had left fragments of my power core within. And I must ask for one favor, my brothers, sisters.."
There was a moment of silence.
"We already expressed our willingness, Ignis. No need to implore us."
"And what you wanted to do we already guessed however this is the only time we can help you. Once you returned to the human realm, we could no longer interfere."
The voices one after another replied.
Then, the magus could feel his body or soul floated into some place.
"Yulan the great magus of the human realm," the voices sounded closer to him. "you were the greatest magus in your time and you had let your greediness take over your soul. As the law of the heaven's realm your soul should be put into the Seven Prisons to be purified. However, as a commendations of your last act of selflessness, you will once again live in the human realm to accompany the fallen god of light, Ignis. You were to find and capture the fallen dark god, Calis as a redemption of your soul... It is as the gods conferred."
After the last word had been uttered, a piercing pain came inside of him. His body involuntarily curled, this time he force his eyes to open to see those who tries to harm him but he did not see anyone. Only the voices keep echoing.
"It is as we conferred."
"It is as we conferred."
The pain intensified with every uttered words until his soul could not take it. It transformed into a ball of light and again he had lost all sense.
"Thank you, my brothers, sisters." The fallen god, Ignis bowed down in gratitude towards a direction before dissipating into specks of light. It accompanied the magus soul.
"This is not a farewell, my brother. We shall meet again in the future."
The voices stilled as they watched the lone soul and a speck of light slowly fade away until darkness returned to the abyss.
