Chapter 60: The First Time
(Sophia's POV)
My face burned with anger as I shoved the small bag into Alessandro's hands. Without waiting for his reaction, I spun around and ran barefoot into the bedroom, my feet making quick pattering sounds against the hardwood floor.
I slammed the door behind me, leaning against it as I tried to calm my racing heart. The nerve of that man! First threatening me with a gun, then mocking my hair.
I heard him moving around in the living room, followed by the sound of paper rustling. He was opening the gift. Part of me wished I'd never bought it.
After a few minutes, I reluctantly emerged from the bedroom, a cap pulled low over my choppy hair. Alessandro stood by the window, examining the sapphire prayer bracelet I'd purchased.
"What do you think?"
