Chapter one: Memories
“Dad!!! Look at this one!”
It was late July, and everyone was up at Goblin Valley for a small road trip. Kiahlynn and her twin brother, Mynach, were running around the rocks, pointing out certain ones that caught their interest. Their father was laughing, and their older brother was running after them.
“No!! Dad I found a better one than her!!” Mynach called. “This one looks like he’s angry!”
“Slow down kiddos,” their father called. “Let’s give Tyson a break.”
“Who needs a break?” Tyson called. “I sure don't. I could chase them for hours.”
“Good!” They called. “Come and get us!”
Their dad watched as they ran and climbed and had fun. He hugged his wife as he laughed.

Kiahlynn and Mynach sat at the kitchen table. It was their 11th birthday. They were going to go to the pool later that day, and rather than fight with them to eat their cake, their mother and father decided that now would be a good time to start the celebration.
“Happy birthday to youuuuu. Happy birthday to youuuuuu. Happy birthday dear Kiahlynn and Mynaaaaach. Happy birthday to you.”
“Make a wish,” their mother said, holding the camera.
The twins looked at each other, and shared a look. Smiling, they turned to their candles and took a breath.
Tyson laughed at their incredulous Lils as the candles flickered back to life.
“What did you wish for?”
“We can’t tell you!” They responded, going back to blowing their candles out.

It was the night of Mynaches’ soccer game. Kiahlynn, Tyson, and their parents sat in the stands. He looked so small, so nervous. As the match began, they watched as the boy darted and faked and weaved in and out of other peoples kicking feet.
Everyone held their breath. Mynah kicked desperately. The ball soared towards the net. The goalie was prepared to block.
The field was quiet and tense. The ball was inches away from the goalie. But rather than blocking it, the goalie jumped away. The crowd went wild. Mynachs’ eyes went wide. His teammates surrounded him and started cheering.
His family jumped up and screamed and cheered. They called his name.
And for the rest of the game, whenever Mynach needed a pickup, or when he went to make a goal, his family was there to cheer him on.

Tyson stood in Kiahlynn’s doorway.
“Sis...”
She jumped, and turned. He could see that his little sister was wound tighter than a spring. she was nervous, anxious, and definitely scared.
“Ty... I dont think I can do this....”
“I believe you can do this. You are an amazing dancer, and you have been practicing your butt off to make it to nationals.”
“I feel like I am going to throw up.... I dont feel that great.”
“Should I go get dad?”
She nodded. “But will you come back too?”
“Of course.”
He went to go get their father. When they came back, Kiahlynn was crying on her bed.
“Oh baby....”
Her dad and brother crawled in next to her and held her, telling her that she was strong and that she had this. Her dad told her that just because she was crying does not mean that she wasn’t strong.
When she managed to pull herself together, it was almost time for her performance.
“If you dont want to go, I’m sure your team will understand...”
Kiahlynn shook her head. “Your right. I have prepared myself for this day, and there’s no way that I am going to back out.
And with that attitude, she went and preformed very well. Her team made it to second place, and there was a picture taken of her and her team, and of her and her father holding the trophy that was sitting on the mantle in the living room.
