He rarely had to face the council. They were always very judgmental and seemed to be intent on getting on his last nerves and frustrating him. "They apparently wish to make a display". He said to him, He hummed as they made their way into the grand ballroom. He noticed that his men had gathered as well, but he was still unable to find Kane. He was his second in command, and in his absence, he would take over, so he found it strange that he was absent. He did not have much time to think over the matter as he watched as the double doors on the side were swinging open. He kept his gaze stoic as he watched a badly beaten Kane make his way into the room. He was dragged by two of the council guards, and he had a swollen eye.
"What is the meaning of this?" Allister asked, but before they could answer, he watched as the doors on the other side of the room swung open and the council leaders, Trey and Warfa, made their way into the room. They were almost amused. "What have you done? Why is he like this? Do you make a mockery of the veil?" He roared. "No, but he did break the code, and the code is sacred." Trey said. Allister stiffened, looking towards Kane, who didn't dare to meet his face. "You found your mate?" He asked. Yes, he did, and he planned to leave to be with her. So what are you going to do about the traitor?" Trey challenged. Allister felt betrayed in that moment as a wave of anger swept over him. He wanted to protest as he felt his body shudder with disgust. "Dispose of him." The last thing his people needed was a mate. And if he ever had one, he would make her wish she had never been paired with a monster like him. *** Rebecca had seen monsters. She had stopped fearing them a long time ago. From a young age, she had been tossed around like a rag doll by those who claimed to care for her. Her parents had been rogues, and they had died trying to cross the pack borders. The Alpha of the Water Crest had taken her in as a show of his mercy, but that was as far as his kindness extended. Since that moment, she has been tormented and treated like the lowest of omegas. Her life could not get any worse than the one she had lived for the last twenty years. Or at least, that was what she had thought. …. "Do not fight it. Stop acting as though you do not enjoy it." She heard him as his hot breath fanned her neck. He had her body pressed against the wall as he inhaled her scent. A shiver ran down her spine as she placed her hands on his chest. "Please don’t alpha. I do not want this." She begged as she tried to push him off her, but as always, Alex the Alpha's brute of a son was much stronger than her. She watched as he chuckled. "Come on. If you let me just do this once, I may put in a good word with my father. Besides, I know we are friends. You may not have turned 21 yet, but tomorrow is your birthday, and I can just feel it." He said it to her with a hum.
She had to stop this, and she knew that it would get her into trouble, but she knew that with them on the balcony, there was no way for her to call for help. Without warning, she raised her knee to his crotch and kicked him. He slightly loosened his hold on her, causing her to whimper. She felt her heart race against her chest as she pulled away from him and made her way towards the edge. She had to get away from him. But she was not able to get far as he tried to grab her. What she had not expected or anticipated was for him to trip over the railing. Everything happened so fast after that. She tried to reach out for him, but it was too late, as he was sent hurtling to the floor. She closed her eyes, but still, that was not enough for her to be able to miss the distinct sound of a crash. She looked down as she noticed the guards begin to gather around him. She did not want to believe that he was actually gone. She knew that she had to get out of there fast. Without hesitation, she picked up the end of her skirt and raced back into his room. This was a bad idea. A terrible one, to say the least. He had been following her for a long time now, and she had been stupid enough to think that this time he actually had a decent reason to want to speak to her. The alpha would never forgive her for taking his son away from him. It did not matter how well she was able to spin her story; she would be the criminal. But as she pulled open the door, she felt the color drain from her face, and she realized that she was done. The brooding Alpha Charles stood before her with his eyes a bright yellow. His gaze was cold, and she shivered as a slave of fear came over her. "What did you do?" He asked, his voice sending chills down her spine. "I swear, I did not mean to. It was an accident." She babbled shakily, but he didn't allow her to finish her sentence, as he was quick to reach forward and easily wrap his hand around her neck. Her eyes widened as she found herself struggling to breathe. She tried to claw at the hand he had wrapped around her neck as she felt her eyes water. "Treason. I always knew that you had the curse of darkness in you." He spat angrily, his eyes burning with pure rage.
