CHAPTER THREE

"Your mother was a witch, and even she didn't care for you. And now I will do everyone a favor by killing you." He spat. She truly wanted to die. It was better than the life of pain she would be bound to live if she ever did survive. But just as she felt herself slip away, she was shocked when he loosened the hold that he had on her. She coughed loudly as she fell to the ground and took in deep gulps of air as she struggled to breathe. He let out a sickening laugh as she watched him slowly lower himself to her level. "Do not worry. This is just the beginning. When I am done with you, you will wish I had killed you quickly." That was the last thing that she heard before she felt the black dots cover her vision, and she was soon out like a light. … Rebecca was woken up by the smell of something burning. Her eyes furrowed as she slowly pulled them open, and she cried out in pain as she took in the sight of the silver cuffs around her wrist. She looked around in bewilderment, taking in the smell of burning flesh and blood, as she came to the quick realization that she was in fact trapped in the cells. She did not remember how she got there, and she felt a shiver run down her spine at the memory of the fact that she had killed the Alpha's son as well as the promise that the Alpha had made to her that he was going to make sure that she suffered for it. She did not know how long she sat there. The only sign of life was the sound of the men coming in and out of the cells next to her. She was used to going days without food, but the silver cuffs made her even weaker. She could barely lift her head up, and then something seemed to shift when, on one occasion, she heard the sound of her cell door being pulled open. She was tense, as she feared not to look up and meet his gaze. She watched as a pair of polished shoes came to a stop before her. She flinched when he grabbed her chin and turned her head up to look at him. "Well, are you not a sight?" He smirked. She felt her eyes become heavy, but she was not able to close them as he slapped her hard across the face. "You cannot die on me just yet; I have managed to tolerate you for this long, and you could not keep yourself from causing chaos for a mere few minutes. It is pathetic. I knew that I should have killed you the moment that you were brought to me, but I kept you. Do you know why?" He asked her, and he was met with silence. "Because of that stupid prophecy. You being a witch and a wolf will help me pull the darkness out and allow me to take control of it. But the darkness isn't around, and you have not even tapped into your witching ability; you are useless to me. And I do not know what I will do with you." He said this to her in frustration. She was a hybrid; it made sense to her now, but she had never heard of this prophecy. She watched as he pulled out a syringe with a yellow liquid that resembled wolfsbane in it. "I will just have to torture you until I can trigger a reaction great enough that it reawakens the darkness, and when you are no longer of use to me, I will kill you". He said this to her in a hissing tone. She tried to struggle against him, but she was no match as he injected the liquid into her body. And instantly, she was hit with excruciating pain. Pain was all she ever felt. *** Allister was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the door to the grand room being pulled open. He had been out of it for the last few days with what had happened to Kane. He knew that he should have done something about it, but he was the leader, and he was meant to set the standards that the others were to follow. "I see you are still brooding." He heard Mark say: He turned toward him with raised eyebrows as he gritted his teeth. This was not the time for them to make jokes. "I am not in the mood. What do you want?" he asked, and he watched as a smile made its way onto his face. "Grand wishes to see you in the chambers." He said this to him, and Allister could not help but look toward him in confusion. "Fine." He knew this would not be any good. Whenever they were forced to enter the drawing room, it meant that a prophecy had been revealed or that there was something that they had to settle. He made his way into the room, where he found Grand standing in front of the large crystal dome. He looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. "You called for me," he said. He watched as he hummed. "Yes, there is a chance that we may have some trouble. We have received words of a hybrid," he said to him. He looked over at him with a look of confusion. "How is that possible? I thought that they had all been put out." Hybrids were a group that were both witches and werewolves, and they had been eradicated a long time ago, so he was surprised to hear that they received a word from the species. Well, another just appeared on our radar. She is of shifter age, and I guess it seems as though for now something has been used to mute her abilities. Although we have a clear view of her," he said to him.
