Prologue
"NEWS FLASH! The CEO of Lawrence Wears reveals his face to the media for the first time in five years.
The CEO of Lawrence wears is seen running out of the company with a crying face. Currently, the security is making a human barricade to stop people from getting near to the CEO. A female employee is also bringing the CEO back inside."
Charlotte turned the TV off.
Julian looked at his sister and asked, "Charlotte, do you really think it's a good idea to break it off with him?"
Charlotte didn't respond. She just continued staring at the remote in her hand.
"He seems to be regretting it big time. Why don't you give him a second chance?" Julian suggested.
Charlotte looked up and forced a smile on her face. "If I give him another chance now, it won't be the second chance."
Julian frowned. "What do you mean by that?"
"It's exactly as I said. If I give him another chance now, it won't be the second chance."
Charlotte tried to make her smile stay plastered on her face, but the ends of her lips threatened to go downwards. That was when Julian realized he shouldn't be asking her anything anymore. Asking her to explain would be equivalent to making her recall all those memories.
He hugged his sister as he thought, "The older ones need protecting, too."
In her brother's warm embrace, Charlotte let go of all the tears she kept in. The small apartment was filled with cries the whole night.
While Charlotte was crying in her brother's arms and Edward was being comforted by his secretary, other people began to talk about the news they had just heard. Some people gaped in admiration at the young CEO's handsome face. Other people remarked how lucky whoever was the woman that caused him to cry like that.
After gossiping, they would just go to bed and sleep soundly. For whatever happened to Charlotte and Edward was of no consequence to them. But I hope it is not the same for you. So let me tell you why the billionaire cried.
