NIKO POV: After that blindsided meeting, I had to get out. I was feeling Kaos getting close to the surface. I caught a few black wisp coming out. I have to let them think I'm wolfless. It helps me know who truly appreciates me and who's hungry for power. Walking Towards my car, I call Jacobi and fill him in. I need to get a food order and make sure we are stocked with what we need, as well as medical supplies. Once Jacobi gets back, we gotta do border patrol. STARLET POV: Pulling up to my parents' home, my mom is standing on the porch with a bright smile, her arm in the air waving crazy. She is also bulit like me. Instead of pear-shaped, she's an hourglass. Her long blonde hair braided in a fish tail. she stands 5'9. Her eyes are both turquoise. She has a full set of lips, high cheek bones, and doesn't look a day over twenty, even though she is 42. Must be nice having a wolf, I thought bitterly. Walking up to the porch, I fall into her tight embrace. She Nuzzels into my shoulder. "How's I missed you child." she says. Come, let's eat, I made your favorite apple pie. Walking in, I take I the three story log style cabin. It's all an opened floor plan. Walking in is the coat rack and place for shoes. Ahead is the mud room. On the other side of the wall is a state of the art kitchen, all stainless steel, marble counters. Island sitting in the middle. Across from that is the dining room. Wrap around sectional. With a white fuzzy rug in front. Along the wall is a mantel filled with pitchure frames . Above that Is a flat screen TV. Below is a stone fireplace. In the next room is the family room. In the center sits a long oak table that can sit at least twenty. Behind that is the back door that has a wrap around porch. Which is my favorite spot. It over sees the whole dense forest with the best view if the sun rises and the sun sets. My mom puts her hand on my shoulder compfrontablly. Let's go to the kitchen, my love. Please tell me what's been new and how you have been? So I do, all the way up to last night. "She really did that?" my mom asked, leaning back in her chair, wiping her tears off. He sounds like he has a reason to be guarded, honey. Maybe he had a rough night and needed space. leave it up to my mom to be the level-headed one. I don't know, i say, leaving my sentence hanging in the air. You don't know what scarlet? if he matches your aloofness, or he has the same altitude as you? I say that I'm glad you met your match. Hopefully, you see him again. You hope you see who again? A deep voice cuts us off. Daddy! running into his arms, I give him a big hug. My father. drake. Stands 6'9 Kinda bulit like an mma fighter. Some what large arms, and flat muscled stomach. He has dark brown hair. Violet eyes. Clean shaved face. Full lips, sharp jaw, thick brows. Hands that can cover my face. So what was neon saying about seeing who again? He asks as he nuzzels my mom's neck, breathing in her scent. She then proceeded to tell him my night. With a quirked brow, he ket out a deep belly laugh. I want to meet this guy! I just had a terrified thought! You Jessie and him! Better send in the calvary now. The fact he let Jessie speak her mind and was still calm says a lot about his nature, my darling. Says that he has good control. "Is he a wolf or human?" My dad asks. Honestly, dad, I can't tell. without shifting, I haven't gotten any senses yet. "I see," he says, rubbing his chin. Well, enough chit-chat, let's eat. With that, we sit down. and enough the steak, mash potatoes, fruit salad, and all the desserts, any army can stomach. Sitting there, I start thinking about the new moon. It's in a month. If I have any chance at all, then maybe that will be my time. I hate how my parents never shifted around me or feel they gotta tip toe around it like a sore topic. Shaking those thoughts, I remember the moon goddess words to me. The rest of the afternoon went well as always. Sitting on the back deck with my mom as it started getting dark. I told her that I was going to leave so I could be well rested for my double shift tomorrow. With promises coming back, In two weeks and goodbye hugs I left and started my journey back home. Getting back, I see Jessie sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket Watching Netflix. Taking off my shoes, I sat next to her, climbing under it as well. "How was your date? I asked. She gave me a wide toothed smile. It was amazing. We went to a park and had a picnic. We just sat there talking and getting to know one another. It was so simple but yet perfect, she looked all dreamy, mentioning it. "How were your parents? she asked. It was really nice. It's nice seeing them. Nothing beats the feeling of home. I'm glad you had a great time with Jacobi. You deserve to be happy. With that, I patted her leg, got up, and announced I was getting a shower and heading to bed. "Are you working a double?" she asked. Yea , I need the extra cash. Alright, babe, I'll see you for the second half. Good night. She calls back. I'm doing my morning routine, throwing my hair into a quick bun, grabbing toast, a yelling my see ya later to jessie.. No hot mess today. This mama got her s**t straight and woke up feeling fablous. Making my short drive to the café I see my two favorite men when i walk in. Marty and josh. They're twins in their thirties. Dark hair, blue eyes 6 foot even.. heavy set, but they are as sweet as dark chocolate. " Hey boys," I say in a sing-song voice. Are you feeling OK, star? Marty asks. Yea, why not?I respond. Well, for one, you're damn near skipping, and two, you're usually hovering over the coffee pot like a possessed demon waiting for a sip Josh responds back. I'm fine. I just had an amazing sleep. Tapping on the metal divider and saying, "Have a good day, boys!" the both look at one another like I lost my head. To add to my great already morning, my favorite little old lady comes in. Mrs June. hey Mrs June, i greet her when I get to the table. Her warm chocolate milk in hand. "Hey dear," she says, looking through her thick glasses. I'd like my soup and a piece of cheesecake, please. "Sure thing," I chrip back. Handing her stuff to her, with her cake. I let her do her crosswords. Walking over to the serving station. I make sure everything is filled and ready before lunch rush. Then the said great morning was great till it wasn't. Sitting in the corner table by the window is none other the purple eyes. Sucking air between my teeth, I have to really try my professional demeanor. "Welcome to the café my name is Starlet. What can I get you, sir? s**t I thought. I just gave the asshole my name. Snapping out of that thought as quick as it came. I give him my best. I'm gonna kill you, but not here smile.
