I saw the stricken look upon Lena’s face as her parents walked out of the room, and I could see her heart was breaking. This was not how she wanted it to be. She had hoped they would understand. And, while to some degree I think they may have, they knew they had to show loyalty to their pack, especially being so closely related to someone of higher rank. Sadly, that was how our packs so often worked… I had no doubt their hearts would be breaking too as they walked away from my father's office, but they would have to return to their pack. They had to show that they were loyal to their pack, and in doing so that meant feigning their disappointment in their own daughter. I had seen the way Lena's Uncle behaved, and I did not doubt he would make his brother's life a misery if he saw any hint
