Chapter Twenty-One The girls were exhausted from their day out shopping with Beryl. As usual, she had spoilt them rotten, with two new dresses each, plus trainers, make-up and jewellery. During dinner, Jennifer was fighting to stay awake but, as usual, she refused to go to bed until her big sister was ready. After her inspection of the house prior to their arrival, Celia suggested that the girls share Mitzi’s bed. She could not fight the unnerving sensation she felt each time she remembered the aggression with which the entity had tried to throw her down the stairs leading from her younger daughter’s room. Celia was fairly confident that, judging from their experience so far, the spirit seemed to mean the girls no harm. But, after that afternoon’s events, she knew that she would sleep
