Time seemed to crawl to a standstill, and I wasn't sure if ever wanted to disappear more than I did right now. Leaving wasn't even an option, because al thanks to Diego, every eye was on me. Literally. I could feel their gazes burning into me from every corner, and no matter how hard I tried to shake them off, nothing seemed to be working. It felt like I was locked in for life, and it wasn't the good kind.
The music had faltered, and then stilled. Honestly, I had no idea which was worse at this point. All I wanted to do was crawl back into my room and think about how I'd actually allowed this whole thing spiral.
