Kali POV “ If she wants to keep kneeling,let her do it. Maybe that will make her confess to her crime.” Those were the last words I heard from him,My Alpha and mate, Alpha Luca. They were said with so much hatred and disgust that made me flinch. It had been two days and Luca didn't show any signs of seeing me or listening to my side of the story. Every time I closed my eyes,all I saw was Katya’s bloodied body and then Luca’s fury as he screamed ‘ you killed my sister.’ He didn't give me the opportunity to explain myself. He branded me the killer just because I was holding a bloodied dagger as Katya's body laid beside me. " I just need to see Alpha and explain to him that I didn't do what I am being accused of." I pleaded with the guards stationed at the entrance of the midnight park. My voice was getting croaked but nobody seemed to care. Not like I expected any care from them but nevertheless, it hurt so much that I felt like I was dying slowly. " If I were you, I'd be gone. The Alpha was merciful enough to let you go after you killed the princess.” The guard replied in a harsh tone. Merciful? Accusing me of killing his sister without properly investigating was considered merciful? I didn't do anything wrong yet they were forcing me to walk away in shame? As the culprit of a crime I didn't commit then disguising that as mercy? " I swear to the Moon goddess, I really didn't take Katya's life. I would never think of harming her.” I tried to explain myself, but all I received in return was disgusted looks on their faces. " How dare you take the name of the moon Goddess in your filthy mouth?” The guard questioned,a murderous look on his face. They all hated me. The people I called my family hated me and they didn't bother to hide it. To them,I was a sinner who deserved death for killing the princess of the pack. No one cared that the same person they were accusing me of killing was my best friend. They were not the only ones mourning. I was too. I was in pain but no one saw that. All they saw was how ugly my heart was. Growing up,Katya and I were inseparable. People wondered how the princess of the pack could be friends with someone like me. Many warned her to stay away from people like me; weak and pathetic omegas but she never listened. “ Whether a princess or omega,we are all part of a big family.” That was her comeback every time someone tried to persuade her to hate me. She was widely known throughout the pack for having a big and kind heart. Although Luca never stopped her from hanging out with me,he didn't exactly like me. Then everything changed when I recognised him as my mate. He started being harsh on me, punishing me for the slightest mistakes. When I gathered the courage to mention our bond,he snapped at me, calling me weak and pathetic. He said a peasant like me was not worthy of being his Luna. That I was meant to grovel under his feet, worshipping him. “ How dare you daydream of rising up the ranks by using me? Do you think I need someone of low status stuck on my back? Do you want me to be an embarrassment in the whole werewolf world?” Luca sneered at me. This made him fall out with Katya who confronted him. I still remember that fateful day. Katya had dragged me to the woods to hunt to ‘ cheer me’ up after Luca made me clean the entire pack house. We were familiar with the woods because that was what we often did together. I don't know what happened but I lost consciousness after a particular strange scent hit me. When I woke up again, Katya was laying in a pool of her own blood,a dagger lodged in her heart. Without thinking,I scrambled and reached for her and pulled the dagger from her body. That's when Luca and his beta Darius arrived. Luca rushed to us,shoved me aside without any care in the world and scooped Katya's body in his arms. I laid on the ground,frozen from shock. I didn't register anything until Luca turned to me,his eyes bloodthirsty. He accused me of stabbing his sister to death. I tried to explain myself, tell them that I didn't kill Katya but they wouldn't listen. “ I saw you with my own eyes. Are you calling me blind?” Luca growled at me, kicking me on the stomach. His beta dragged me back to the pack and tossed me to the ground. Hours passed before Luca came to see me. The only thing he had for me was a question. “ Why did you kill her?” I tried explaining myself but who would believe me. Not only was I holding the murder weapon in my arms,it happened to be the gift Katya gave me on my eighteenth birthday. With all the ‘ evidence’, I was sentenced without being tried. From a pack member,I turned into a hated b***h who killed her best friend. The motive of my actions? No one mentioned. I became homeless in a span of hours.Without a pack to call my home, I had nowhere to go. I was also aware that no pack would be willing to take me in after all, I am a sinner. Nobody would want to offend the mighty alpha Luca Thorn, not unless they were tired of existing... That meant the only way to survive was to beg Alpha Luca to listen to my side of the story. I was innocent and I would never plead guilty of a crime I didn't commit. " You can kneel till your last breath. No one cares whether you live or die.The Alpha is still mourning the princess." The guard said the words that hurt the most. He was hurting but was that a reason enough to treat me this way? “ The princess treated you so well yet you killed her? You don't deserve to live.” The guard sneered with sheer hatred. " Let's just leave, he won't believe us either way." my wolf, Venus advised. She was distressed and in pain too. "Leave? And then what?We don't have a place to call home nor will anybody take us in." I reminded her and I could feel her whimper and howl in pain. With nowhere to go, we could only result in becoming rogues. But life as a rogue was not something I ever imagined. " I would rather be a rogue than endure this torture."
