Kali's POV The grand ballroom glittered like it had been plucked straight out of a dream, or maybe a nightmare meant to remind me just how small I could feel. I honestly didn't want to admire it, but with how beautifully it has been set up, there was no way I would be able to resist the temptation for much longer. The marble floors had been polished to the point of blinding, the golden chandeliers burned bright overhead, and the most important and probably out of place, were the rows of stern eyes watching from the raised dais where the council sat. The biggest mistake I would make would have been to undermine today's trial, and honestly, I was glad I hadn't.
