The silence that followed the sharp voice was heavy enough to snap my spine in two. It lingered in the air, and I hated the fact that it came with an eerie feeling , like whoever had cut into our conversation was a villain just waiting for us to turn to our own doom. My lungs refused to work, and my pulse ricocheted against the walls of my throat like a stray ping pong ball that had gone crazy. I wasn't sure why I did it, but somewhere in between my paranoia, I happened to lock eyes with Raven and Brooke. They weren't my favorite persons in the world, but seeing them with the same amount of fear as me, filled me with a kind of satisfaction.
It was fleeting and didn't last long though, as Raven, Brooke, and I all turned at once.
