The silence between us stretched, thick and dangerous. It was the kind of silence that devoured every sane thought I tried to cling to. I tried, heaven knows I tried to get a grip on myself but it was next to useless and futile, all thanks to the man standing g beside me. It didn't even help that my body was already betraying me, when I was still fighting the right thing to do. My chest heaved, my pulse thrummed so fast it would burst ,and still his words clung to me like chains.
