The council’s silence stretched, brittle as glass, and for a moment, I honestly thought the world had come to a standstill. For the next couple of seconds, no one said a thing, and I would be lying if I said I was surprised. When I woke up early this morning, I'd steeled myself for whatever the outcome of my actions would turn into. What I knew I was t going to take, was to be sidelined.
