The first thing my body came to terms with was the pain that echoed all around me. The pain was dull, a quiet hum beneath my skin, but it was there, lingering like a warning. Of course it couldn't speak, but with the way it hung back, just slightly, you could tell it was whispering to me to not make any sudden moves, or I was going to regret it.
