Revenge for the Fallen

It was eearily quiet. Only the ticking of the wall clock could be heard. Autumn had safety goggles on and was busy mixing the contents of the two test tubes. "Autumn! The director is calling for you" A female cme in the lab and informed Autumn. Autumn took off her glasses. She could not be labelled as a breathtaking beauty or exceedingly gorgeous, but she glowed with the charm of intelligence. With one look, anyone can tell she might be quite studious, serious and not the one to be messed with. It was 7 in the evening. Autumn was done for the day. Her research was proceeding in the right direction, so she felt her life was on track. Work, eat, sleep and repeat. It was a perfect life for her. And why wouldn't it be? She was earning quite well and her intelligence scared people. At the age of twenty-six, she has achievements that most people cannot achieve in their whole lifetime. But one thing that no one knew or expected about her was her guilty pleasure. It was nothing other than reading supernatural romances. Werewolves, vampires, witches, spirits, demons, angels, mermaids and what not. Her obsession with reading these books reached to the point where she sacrificed her sleep and her daily life became: eat, work, read and repeat. 'Only if I could retire and keep reading these books' Autumn thought and sighed. That is the reason why she was working so hard. Have enough money for a lifetime and spend her time reading. She would become an old lady who is just content with her books. The next day, Autumn went to her lab and started her experiments. But within a few minutes she felt that something was wrong as a thick smoke filled the whole lab. Nothing was visible in the lab due to this smoke. Most probably, it was some poisonous gas. Before Autumn could do anything, she felt her mask was forcefully pried off and she inhaled the smoke. She was dead within a few seconds. Her sound flew out of her body and she saw someone sneaking out of the lab, most probably the person who killed her. She died just like that in the middle of the experiment. Suddenly, her soul felt like it was sucked into the vacuum. 'What the f**k! What is this sensation? Am I going for reincarnation?' That was the last thought before her soul also lost consciousness.
