I point at the body of the unconscious siren a few feet away. “What about her?” I ask. She looks over her shoulder and pulls out her wand again. This time it’s pulsing purple. She smiles darkly and winks at me. “I have plans for her.” She walks over to the body and nudges it gently with her foot a few times. “Hey!” she says, “Wake up, little druggie!” At first, the siren doesn’t respond. Drusilla kicks a little harder. “Persephone!” She snaps. This time the mermaid rolls onto her stomach and coughs, taking in lungfuls of gravely dirt. “Good morning!” Says Drusilla in a darkly cheerful voice. “I’d like you to look me in the eye for this, please. You escaped me once, and I’m not going to let you do it again.” The siren looks up, her eyes still flashing red. “Now,” continues the sorce
