My companions swim closely behind me as we head toward the shore. Every flap of my fin takes me closer to Lucas. I feel my body heating up with excitement as I get nearer to him, like a planet falling into orbit around its sun. When the sea floor becomes more shallow, we slow down and poke our heads above the surface of the waves.  “What now?” Asks Persephone with a touch of annoyance in her voice. “We can’t exactly walk up there.” I squint toward the beach and see a dark figure standing there, looking out over the water and impatiently pacing back and forth.
