Chapter 2.

1795 Words
Two years and six months. That’s how long this journey took me, two whole years in wolf form. Six months in human due to my wolf getting wolfbane. That’s another story, I will tell another day. It felt weird standing on my own two feet again. Literally, I haven’t stood on them for very long. Rylee was getting stronger by the day and I made my way through the forest. This would be a whole lot better if I was in her form, but she needed rest. My senses were in over drive, I knew these woods, and knew where I wanted to go. I could smell something baking in the east, I can hear traffic 100 yards away now. I was much stronger then I was when I entered this forest, I am not the same person I was two years and six months ago. I picked up my pace a little, as I headed east towards the baking smell. I knew that smell anywhere, I knew that’s where I needed to go. As I ventured towards a small clearing I’m the opening of the trees, to a running stream. It took me back to the night I started this training, when I was being chased my rogues. Rogues, those filthy creatures. I shivered at a memory, them pawing at me, me screaming out for help, but no one came. No one helped. I shook my head, I needed to get home. I missed my family, and I was ready to crawl in my bed and sleep. ‘Rylee, are you okay my sweet wolf?’ ‘Yes Raylee, I will be able to take over in an hour or so, take a break to get a drink. We need to cross this stream, but it looks like it’s moving a lot faster’ I looked at the stream, it was going faster. With spring coming the snow was now melting making the stream pick up pace, it also made the waterfall sound like it was roaring. As I stepped off the rock to sit down next to the stream, I noticed a paw print. I stood there expanding my senses, taking a sniff in the air. I don’t smell any threat, but this paw print is fresh. I take a look around, and spot a rabbit about fifty yards away. My stomach growled loud. Man was I hungry, when was the last time I hunted? I sat down making sure it was safe and put my face near the water. I was still learning to be human again, so for now I just went with it. ‘You’re such a lady Ray’ my wolf mocked me. It was her fault I was this way. ‘Shut up Ry. I’m learning okay… do you think anyone would hear us through mindlink? We are really close to home.’ I asked while I was still drinking from the stream. Before Ry could answer me, I heard a snapping of a twig. I spun towards the noise, I came face to face with a big white wolf. They didn’t make any movement towards me, but just stared at me. Aa I looked at this big white wolf in front of me, I noticed the gold patch on their chest. Before I could speak, the wolfs tail started wagging, that’s when they pounced on me. I fell back into the mud. ‘Okay, okay you mutt! Get off me!’ I said laughing at the wolf. I knew this wolf, as I scratched being his ears. Raven liked that. Raven is my brothers wolf. Meaning this wolf was not a threat to me or to Ry. I laughed more when Raven licked my face, he took a step back to look at me. ‘SIS! YOU MADE IT HOME!’ He shouted in my head. I cringed at the loudness of his voice. It felt like bullets hammering into my brain. ‘Can you not yell please! Yes, I am home. Its been a long journey, and I’m really happy to see you.’ I know I looked different, when I started this journey, I stood 5’8 and weighed 140 pounds. I was by no means a big girl to start, but I didn’t have any muscle tone to me. I am a lot skinnier, but more muscular then when I started. I could probably take on my brother in my human form if I really wanted too. I had been through so much. That fighting was the only way out. Not only did my body appearance change, but so had my skin color. I was much darker, and my hair was a light lighter. Almost like a dirty blonde and much more longer. With it down I can feel it touching just above my butt. I stared at my brother, he was wagging his tail and licking my face. ‘I linked mom and dad, they are on their way here, they said to meet them by the road. Come on sis hop on you look tired’ He said to me. I was tired, but an Alpha walked out these woods, not rode on the back of another member. I shook my head and we began our walk up to the road. ‘So tell me Josh, what has changed? I was gone for so long. I thought about you guys a lot. Especially when.. ‘ I cut myself off before I said to much My brother wolfed out a chuckle ‘Nothing really has changed, a week after you left we had a rogue attack, but another Alpha beat us to them. Alpha Kane is his name. When he attacked those rogues dad sat down with him and they talked a lot. We signed an alliance with them. His pack name is The Dark Moon, they are a little ways away from us near the Texas border. So he ventured all this way tracking those rogues. He said that they belonged to the Rogue king. The man who murdered his Luna.’ He said to me, I looked at him shocked. So they already knew who the alpha king was. That man was a disgusting individual. When I was able to get away from him. I vowed to myself I would bring him and his whole pack down. For what they did they all deserved nothing less than to die. I would train even harder, and perfect my fighting skills as a human and a wolf. I would never let someone do that to anybody ever again. My brother noticed my silence. ‘Hey, Ray. It’s okay, dad and Alpha Kane have made a lot of alliances the last two years, they think they know where he is at. He keeps slipping away though, and that’s what makes then mad. If they could just get one good informant to cooperate with them. We will have him.’ My brother became silent again, probably worrying about me and my silence. Silence was all I knew for the past two years. I only talked to my wolf when I was awake. Speaking of my wolf, I can feel her spirit more alive then it has been in over a week. ‘Ry, are you ready?’ ‘More than ever Ray’ She said to me. I blinked my eyes and I was seeing them through her now. My brother had stopped and stared at me. ‘Wow! That took less than a mili-second! I have never seen that before. You really did get stronger out there didn’t you Ray?’ he asked me, with sheer amusement on his face. Like he just saw the best thing ever. ‘I guess so Josh, you will become stronger. If you aren’t already. I can’t wait to get home and have an actual shower.’ I said, as I started towards the road where I could hear a truck parked and waiting. Dad. I thought to myself and I moved more quickly to get there now. I paused the tree line and got down on my belly, a tactic I learned out there, I stuck my muzzle out just a bit, and sniffed. I got a hint of mint and strawberries. Mom was with dad as well, it was a lovely smell. I was home. I emerged from the tree line and sat down in front of my parents. Mom started to sob and she got down and wrapped her arms around me. ‘OH HONEY, OUR DAUGHTER IS HOME!’ she yelled at my dad. ‘ She came back safe to us’ He said as he also wrapped his arms around us. This was Home. This is what pushed me to come back to make it out alive. Was I safe? Yes, I was safe. Was I mentally prepared to sit and talk to dad about everything that happened? No I wasn’t, and I would probably wait on telling him from the last six months. I was home. It was where I needed to be. My mom stood up, and opened up the back the truck, where my brother and I jumped into it. It was time to head back to the castle. •Kane• The pack house was full of energy this morning, I heard talk among some of them that Ray had returned. After seeing her that fateful night, I waited two years and six months for her, to see her again. I had looked away from her that night and lost her scent and wasn’t able to pick it up again. I was devastated when I lost her tracks, and her scent. My wolf was howling in my head, he also wanted to see our little mate, we had been uneasy since we lost her. I tracked those rogues down, and came across her pack. It was a very strong pack I give them that, they didn’t even know there was a rogue problem. I had tortured those rogues for weeks trying to find out where my little mate had gone. I knew that the way she was last seen was going was their territory, their lands if she stumbled across those sick creatures. I shook my head. Just knowing what they could have done to her if she came across them made me go insane. I was glad she was here, I was glad she was safe and coming back to her family. To me.
