The Red Moon

Mike Skylar seems like a great girl, she is so pretty and isn't annoying like everybody else I have ever met. I feel bad for bringing up whatever caused her to tear up, I noticed she teared up when I mentioned her parents, maybe they got a divorce not to long ago. I remember when my parents got divorced I cried but I was 8 years old too.  As I'm walking back to my house I look back at Skylar and see her balling her eyes out on the lounge, I feel terrible now, what have I done. I should have been like a normal teen and said no to my dad to go and meet the only other teenager down this street. I would have rather met one of the old people now, I hate making people cry.  Skylar was different though, she is so very pretty, she answered her door in her pyjamas, her hair not brushed and no make up on. She had a healing cut on her forehead and her hair was long black and a little knotty but it was still straight. But when she came back down woah, she was stunning, her hair in a messy but neat pony tail, she was beautiful without the make up though, I wish she didn't put any on it just hid her cut mainly but still she looked better without it.  Also the Pink Floyd shirt, did she just happen to know that they are my favourite band.  I look at my watch, 5pm dad's probably already ordered pizza. I look at the sky and the sunset is amazing but no where near as the moon that is rising, it's almost a red colour. I need to get home now! I run home, into the house "Hey Dad, the moon is starting to go red!" My dad races to the window "s**t" he says under his breathe, "It look's like we have 2 more weeks till it is fully red, we need to get this house cleaned up and finished so we better hurry!" He says looking at me almost as if he is worried we won't finish in time. The pizza man pulls up at Skylar's house, "you must have told them the wrong address" I tell me dad he looks out the window. "Oh no, never mind Skylar must have ordered Pizza too"  I say smiling as I remember her face. "Skylar, so that's her name, is she nice?" my dad's stomach growls, we both chuckle. "Yeah, I made her cry though I mentioned her parents and she teared up" My dad stares at me, "f**k, I forgot to tell you, her parents died on her birthday. Exactly a week ago today" he looks down, I just stare at the floor, what the hell have I done. She is never going to want to talk to me ever again. The pizza guy knocks on the door, my dad gets up and pays and brings it back, he has a pepperoni, I just have a cheese pizza. I wonder what pizza Skylar is eating, I feel so bad now.  Dad turns on the footy and grabs a beer, I go up to my room and put my dark side of the moon record on and just lay on my bed staring through the window at Skylar's house, she's all by herself I saw a picture of who I am guessing is her brother, wearing a military uniform. I hope he knows, I hope he is alive and coming back for her.  I look at the moon, two weeks and my father and I have to lock ourselves up in the basement in separate rooms for a whole night. Otherwise we might hurt someone, or each other.
