CHAPTER THREE "Mom!" What are you doing here this early?" I say as I open the door for my mom to come in, slightly irritated that she just showed up at my door step at 8:00am without a call or notification typical her. "I think I reserve the right to visit my only child who seems to have forgotten me despite all I've done for her and all the sacrifices I've made, anytime that I deem fit". She says holding her chest like she was stabbed in the heart. Classic drama queen. "I'm sorry mom I didn't mean it that way, of course you can visit me whenever you want. It's just, what if I wasn't home, what would you have done?" "Where else would you be by 8:00am on a Saturday? I know how much you love to sleep in on the weekends and I know I'm not interrupting anything, it's not like you have a man who you'd bring over to spend the night. I don't understand how you can live in this big and beautiful house all alone Mel." She goes on with that look of wonder which I've gotten used to. Here we go again. I just got out of bed, this is definitely not how I plan on starting out my day, I haven't even had coffee yet. "Mom, don't you think it's a little too early for this?" I begin to say as I notice someone unloading her trunk through my kitchen window. "Who is that?" I ask pointing towards her car. "Oh, that's Matt, the man I told you about". She says smiling like a child. "What is he doing here? I ask angrily? Why on earth would you bring your boyfriend to my house for Christ sake? A man I haven't even met!". What on earth was she thinking? She probably wasn't thinking at all because she seemed to lose all sense of proper reasoning whenever she was with a man. "I'm sorry Mel, but you never come home anymore and you've turned down every opportunity to meet him. I knew if I told you he was coming you'd have had a fit, that's why I didn't inform you of our coming at all." "Of course I would have had a fit. What's the point of meeting him? What about all the other ones I met? Where are they now? Didn't they all end the same way? This one is different, I can feel it”. She says a sounding a little bit hurt. Speaking of different, there’s something different about her. She looks really good. She has always been a really beautiful woman, but sometimess she just lets herself go. It’s like she completely forgets to take care of herself or even brush her hair. But today she’s glowing. She looks like someone who has no worries in the world, more beautiful than usual and her long blonde hair doesn't look dull as usual, it even looks shiny with their curls.
