Cassie The shrill ringing of my phone dragged me out of sleep long before I was ready to face the morning. I groaned into my pillow, blindly reaching across my nightstand until my fingers finally found the vibrating phone. “Hello?” I mumbled. “Cassie.” Sophia sounded entirely too cheerful for eight o’clock on a Saturday. “You sound like a Disney princess,” I grumbled. “And you sound hungover.” “I’m not.” “You don’t have to drink to sound miserable.” “I was emotionally intoxicated.” She laughed so hard I had to pull the phone away from my ear. “That is the most dramatic thing you’ve ever said.” “I know.” “And you’ve said some dramatic things.” “I know.” I finally pushed myself upright, my oversized T-shirt twisted around my waist from tossing and turning all night.
